Liverpool duo may exit Anfield, 'active talks' are being held

There's now just over a month left of the 2026-27 summer transfer window.

Liverpool still have one game left to play in their pre-season tour of the USA and will be looking to add a third win to their tally.

The Reds' activity in the transfer market has been fairly subtle so far with Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet being the only players added to their ranks.

However, now that the World Cup is over and when the Reds return to England, it feels like some serious moves will need to be made.

Some of Liverpool's title rivals have already added world class players to their ranks and, while Jacquet and Munoz are solid additions, they're relatively unproven.

However, the lack of additions that Liverpool have made hasn't stopped the rumour mill from turning about potential exits with some of the Reds' first-team squad now being heavily linked with a move away.

West Ham United want to sign Luke Chambers and Harvey Elliott

Liverpool have always had one of the best academies in the world.

Several Premier League greats have graduated from their academy with some, such as Steven Gerrard, even becoming one of Liverpool's best players of all time.

However, some of the time, Liverpool's academy players don't end up making it into the Reds' first team squad and end up being loaned out to many different teams throughout their careers.

And, although this isn't ideal, it's sometimes the best way for them to get their name on the map and prove to the Anfield outfit what they're missing.

Several members of Liverpool's squad often get sent out on loan and now, as per a fresh update from ExWHUEmployee via the West Ham Way, it seems like two of Andoni Iraola's men could be on their way to the capital.

"Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Leicester City’s Ben Nelson, and Harry Souttar (and potentially his brother John at Rangers) offer alternatives," he said.

“With a few loan options also there as potential back-ups, including Stephen Mfuni of Man City, Jayden Dixon of Arsenal, and Luke Chambers of Liverpool. As I have said, we are only in active talks with a few of these as we work on the key targets.

"Looking more attacking midfield-minded. Hákon Haraldsson, the Icelandic player from Lille, is someone Nils Koppen is fully aware of, as he used to play for his former club Fc Copenhagen."

Later in the article, the West Ham insider also mentioned a bit about the Hammers' interest in Harvey Elliott.

"American international Malik Tillman, impressed at the World Cup, has a lot of suitors, but should a move not materialise elsewhere, he is someone we have admired for a while. He currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen," he added.

"Another option from Germany could be highly rated Ismael Badjie, who is only 20 years old but is said to have high potential.

"Again, some other loan options ambitiously could be Harvey Elliot; we were very keen before, but he made a disappointing move to Villa, where he barely played. This could give him a chance to rebuild his career by playing a full season. Although Liverpools new manager is still giving his final verdict on the player."

Luke Chambers should join West Ham United but Harvey Elliott needs to stay or get a better move

During Liverpool's pre-season tour of the USA, Luke Chambers has impressed.

The defender is only 22 years old but he's already got a lot of experience under his belt.

Chambers' natural position is at left-back but, since the Reds have been rather short at centre-back, he's been used there by Iraola.

The way that the 22-year-old holds himself on the pitch is exemplary and, even though he may have only featured in 18 Championship games for Charlton last term, he was fairly impressive for the second half of their season.

Obviously, a lot can change in the space of a month but, at the moment it feels like joining West Ham would be a good move for Chambers.

However, in Elliott's case, it would be a massive step-back. Indeed, the Englishman needs to prove that he can be as good as Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai to try and get a chance of featuring in Iraola's plans but, dropping down to the Championship just feels like a step too far.

His loan move to Aston Villa was supposed to get him closer to Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad but, if anything, it made things worse.

Elliott would definitely get the playing time he deserves with West Ham but, at the moment, it feels like it would be a huge step back for the Englishman, rather than the step forward he needs.
