Fabrizio Romano confirms it: Liverpool star will not be forced out

Fabrizio Romano has spoken out on a very interesting situation at Liverpool. He says one Red will not be forced out - even if that's the club's plan.

Liverpool have some business to get through ahead of the winter transfer window. After all, there's absolutely work to be done when that window opens - this isn't a complete squad.

Midfield is the tallest order. Liverpool opted against signing anyone in the summer but sold Curtis Jones to Inter. It leaves them light and simply hoping that Trey Nyoni can step up a significant level.

It means the club almost certainly invests there in 2027 but with a catch. Liverpool are up against their homegrown limit and boast some high-paid stars for what is essentially just two available spots in the side.

That's why reports have come out claiming that Alexis Mac Allister is the sacrifice for a new midfielder. Liverpool will look to move him on in order to sign someone new, with Lamine Camara the pick.

Only, it won't be that simple.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Mac Allister doesn't want to leave Liverpool. In fact, he says he loves the club and that's why a big move didn't happen in the summer.

This comes after Mac Allister spoke out about not receiving a new contract from Liverpool, despite Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai getting theirs. The Argentine certainly appears to be the player the Reds are willing to move on in order to sign someone like Camara, with David Ornstein the latest to hint at that plan.

Mac Allister has made it clear that he wants a new contract, while his brilliant winner against Atlético Madrid showed why he deserves one, quite honestly. And Romano says that the player loves the club and has no intentions of leaving.

"What he says in public is the reality," Romano told Caught Offside. "He loves Liverpool as a club, as a fan base, his teammates - so he's very happy there. He didn't want to leave."

Liverpool will inevitably have a massive decision here. Mac Allister has started the season very well and looks like a staple in midfield. Selling him will become more difficult if he's playing well, contributing highly, and openly wanting to stay.

But the plan really does seem to be selling Mac Allister and signing someone new - a plan that, as things stand, may need to be called off.
