Wow! Liverpool's next Trent Alexander-Arnold is here and he's incredible

The next Trent Alexander-Arnold has arrived at Liverpool, and he's an incredible talent.

Liverpool have spent the past year searching for a genuine successor to their former No. 66, and with every passing month it has become increasingly clear just how irreplaceable he really was.

Few players in world football could offer what Trent Alexander-Arnold brought to Liverpool from right-back. His extraordinary passing range, vision and creativity made him one of the most unique footballers in Europe. Whether it was switching play with pinpoint accuracy, splitting defensive lines or producing a moment of brilliance from deep, Liverpool's attack so often flowed through his ability on the ball.

Conor Bradley has emerged as an exciting talent and, for many, looked like the obvious long-term heir. His aggressive style, energy and determination have all impressed, but persistent injury setbacks have raised understandable concerns about whether he can be depended upon over the course of a demanding campaign. There is little doubt he has a bright future, but Liverpool require greater reliability in such a pivotal position.

Jeremie Frimpong, meanwhile, offers a different profile altogether. He is an outstanding attacking weapon, capable of stretching defences and providing real penetration in the final third, yet there are still question marks over his defensive game. While his strengths are undeniable, Liverpool need a right-back capable of delivering both attacking quality and defensive stability.

One of the reasons why Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool last summer hurt so much is because of the fact that he is an academy product.

We've literally witnessed his rise through the ranks in a very fairy-tale way.

From being 16-years-old and accompanying the Liverpool team to Real Madrid for a Champions League encounter to winning it all with the Reds and establishing himself as one of the best right-backs on the planet.

It was so heartbreaking to see him leave and basically betray Liverpool after everything he had done and after all the support and help the fans gave him to guide him along his fledgling career.

All the more pity is what could have been had Trent stayed. There would not be this void that is currently at Anfield and perhaps he could have been a key player for England and maybe helped them reach the World Cup final in another timeline.

Instead he is languishing at Real Madrid, where they have bought a right-back in Denzel Dumfries presumably to be first-choice this summer.

Alexander-Arnold's stock has well and truly diminished massively over the course of the last 12 months.

Thankfully, Liverpool already have a successor on the way.

Earlier this summer, there was a 15-year-old youngster involved with training with the U21s and some first-team players during Andoni Iraola's first few days at the club.

His name was Lewis John-Charles, a right-back who has been steadily coming through the ranks at the academy.

The fact that he was already involved with training at this level showcases just how highly regarded he is.

And then his real breakthrough came in Japan on Friday evening. John-Charles lined-up for Liverpool's U16 side against the J.League select and produced an excellent performance.

He's a special talent, with speed and directness who excels in one vs one situations and who put in a few very important last-ditch tackles that helped Liverpool keep the score at a respectable 1-0 defeat.

The way he anticipated and positioned himself was very impressive for a player so young. Liverpool's academy is starving for a talented right-back and it looks like in John-Charles one has finally arrived.

The way he is able to attack and defend is very impressive, and it makes him an incredible talent. Someone who could easily become the next Alexander-Arnold.
