Liverpool are lining up an insane transfer that you simply won't believe.

Richard Hughes is starting to feel the pressure. With the transfer window edging closer to its conclusion, Liverpool still have some big problems to solve, and supporters are becoming increasingly restless as the days tick by without any major movement.

This was always supposed to be a huge summer for the Reds. A new manager has arrived, several important players have moved on, and there are clear gaps in the squad that need filling. It never looked like a window where Liverpool could afford to sit back and watch everyone else do business.

Andoni Iraola certainly doesn't think so. Since taking charge, the Spaniard has been refreshingly honest about what he needs.

He hinted during his unveiling at Anfield that more signings were required, and he repeated that message during Liverpool's pre-season tour in Chicago.

He hasn't named names, but he's made it pretty obvious that there are at least two positions he wants strengthened before the Premier League gets underway.

The problem is that, from the outside, very little seems to be happening.

Ever since Liverpool missed out on Yan Diomande, who turned down the club despite being their top target, everything has gone quiet. There have been very few concrete links, hardly any serious rumours and no obvious signs that deals are close.

Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean Hughes and the recruitment team are doing nothing.

Liverpool have often preferred to work behind the scenes, and it's entirely possible negotiations are taking place without much leaking into the public domain. The club may simply be keeping its cards closer to its chest than in previous years.

But supporters can only judge what they see, and right now they aren't seeing much.

The reality is that time is becoming Liverpool's biggest opponent.

Every day that passes is another day lost for any potential new signing to settle into Iraola's demanding style of play. Building relationships, understanding tactical instructions and getting up to speed all take time, especially under a coach whose game is built on intensity.

Hughes has delivered impressive business before, but this window is shaping up to be his biggest challenge yet. Liverpool still have time to turn things around, but that window is getting smaller with every passing day.

Of course the biggest question mark is whether Hughes will even be here beyond the summer. There are strong reports that he has already agreed to move on and join Al Hilal.

This would not be a surprise considering the man who helped to hire him, Michael Edwards, has already left the club.

Nonetheless, it is bitterly disappointing. Liverpool need stability more than ever right now and given the fact that Hughes isn't staying on beyond this window it's hard to see where that stability is going to come from.

Furthermore, one has to question how it's possible for someone to plan for the future of the club without having too much skin in the game or planning to be there for the long-term.

Of course, Hughes is a professional, he will do his work diligently. However, one cannot deny it is a far from ideal situation to be in.

Amidst all of this, a report in Spain has emerged claiming that as well as this summer, Liverpool are already planning a move for next summer.

Defensa Central claim in Spain that Vini Jr's agents have offered him up to Liverpool when his contract expires next summer. Now, Liverpool are not the only club to be in the running for the Brazilian.

But there is no denying this would be an insane move, the kind of outrageous transfer that seems incredibly unbelievable. And yet, and yet, there is incentive there for Liverpool.

And after all, Liverpool do need a winger and Vini Jr is one of the best wingers on the planet. Maybe just maybe this is one to watch, even if it sounds unbelievable and outrageous.
