Richard Hughes should sign €60m star for Liverpool, he’s perfect

Liverpool still have a lot of work to do before the 2026-27 Premier League season kicks off.

At the moment, two new players have been added to the Reds' ranks and, while they fill the voids left by Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate, it still doesn't feel like the Reds are ready to start fighting for the Premier League title again.

Of course, they could surprise everyone, especially if Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak end up getting back to their best but, on the face of things, that feels very unlikely to happen at the moment.

However, if Richard Hughes can start to get a few more deals over the line and actually improve Liverpool's first-team squad, it would put them in a much better position.

Fans will be expecting the Reds to do much better than they did during Arne Slot's last season in charge and, if they manage to sign at least some of the players that they've been linked with recently, then it definitely feels like that can happen.

But, with the market being so inflated and competitive at the moment, it's hardly a surprise to see several different players being linked with an Anfield switch.

And now, one of their former targets has emerged as a potential option for them to explore.

Sky Sports say that Bilal El Khannouss is 'one to watch' until deadline day

One of the main areas that Liverpool need to upgrade this summer is their attack.

Salah has obviously exited and, since he's been Liverpool's main attacking output for as long as anyone can remember, he's going to be extremely hard to replace.

Indeed, he wasn't at his best last term but, his 22-goal contributions will still be fairly difficult to find next term, especially with Hugo Ekitike out injured.

That's why at least one more attacker being brought to L4 is a need, rather than a want.

And now, one of the Reds' former targets could be up for grabs again.

That is, if an update from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg is to be believed.

"Bilal El Khannouss is one to watch until Deadline Day," he wrote.

"He is open to a move. VfB Stuttgart are aware of the situation but would prefer to keep him. If they were to sell, they would demand up to €60m plus bonuses.

"There have been two initial enquiries from Premier League clubs, but nothing concrete at this stage."

Obviously, Bradley Barcola is Liverpool's first-choice attacker that they want to bring in this summer.

At the moment, the Frenchman is Paris Saint-Germain's fourth-choice attacker and, with Ferran Torres and Maghnes Akliouche both potentially on their way to the Parc des Princes, he could end up falling even further down the pecking order.

So, at the moment, it feels like the Reds are just waiting to see what happens with Luis Enrique's men.

However, if they want to get a deal for a new attacker confirmed, Bilal El Khannouss would be a solid option for them to explore.

Liverpool have been linked with El Khannouss in the past and, only recently has their interest decided to re-emerge.

At the moment, the attacker plays for VfB Stuttgart with the club wanting around €60 million to allow him to leave.

This may seem like a lot of money for the Leicester City flop but, after he joined the Bundesliga outfit, the Morocco international contributed to 18 goals across all competitions.

His favoured position is as a number 10 but, there have been multiple occasions this term when the attacker has played on both wings.

Indeed, there's still around a month left until the summer window slams shut and things could certainly change, but, for now, it feels like El Khannouss would be a rather smart signing for Liverpool.
