Liverpool’s next Richard Hughes signing could eclipse Adam Wharton

Liverpool broke the bank in the summer as they chose to spend over £400 million on new players.

Towards the end of last season it was clear that Arne Slot needed to add some fresh legs to his squad before it was too late.

And, even though several new players were brought in, only one midfielder was signed and, to be honest, it's felt like Florian Wirtz has been more of an attacker than anything else.

Of course, this has meant that players such as Curtis Jones and even Wataru Endo have had fairly regular roles in the Reds' starting XI but, even though the former of the two is a top-class payer, Endo has been far from his best.

This has caused questions to arise about the future of Liverpool's midfield and even though Adam Wharton has been the most-linked over the last few months, the Anfield outfit have an even better option than him on the table.

Eduardo Camavinga would be an even better coup for Liverpool than Adam Wharton

If Liverpool are wanting to be seen as one of the best clubs in the world, they need to have at least two world-class players in every position.

And, for the most part, they've managed to do this but, with things such as injuries coming into play, some cracks are starting to show.

As mentioned, Wharton has long been linked with an Anfield switch and, to be honest, many fans are likely expecting him to join the club over the next couple of years.

However, with the number of players that Crystal Palace have moved on recently, it seems like Slot and Richard Hughes could have their eyes on an even better defensive midfielder than the Englishman.

Over the last couple of days, links with Liverpool and Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga have emerged and, even though the Frenchman is likely to cost far more than Wharton would, his experience at the highest level would be invaluable.

The fact that the former Rennes wonderkid can play almost anywhere across the pitch is also a massive selling point in this day and age.

His favoured roles are left-back and defensive-midfield, so, if Robertson does leave in the summer, Camavinga could slot right in.

Eduardo Camavinga would be an exceptional signing

Alongside his versatility, his movement and on-the-ball play are second to none.

Before he chose to join Real Madrid back in 2021, Liverpool also made a move for thr youngster.

Even though that never came to fruition, now that he isn't guaranteed a starting role with Los Blancos the next transfer window or two could be the ideal chance for him to make a move.

There's no knowing what the future has in store for Liverpool or Camavinga but, even if the Frenchman costs Liverpool over £60 million to bring in, he'd be an exceptional signing.
