Even if Alexander Isak comes into Liverpool this summer, there's still a bit of a lack of depth in attack.

Especially if Federico Chiesa leaves, which we really hope doesn't happen. The Italian still has plenty to prove.

But Liverpool are in for a long season. Which means ultimately it's an opportunity for some of the club's young players to get a chance in the first team.

The main focus will be on Jayden Danns, who already has experience at that level. If he can just escape his injury problems there's a really exciting player in there, who is still very young.

Then there's Will Wright, a very exciting new arrival from Salford City, who scored over 50 goals last season at academy level and who could have opened his account for the Reds on his Anfield debut against Athletic Bilbao.

If all goes well, both of them could be involved with the first team this season. But they are not the only ones.

Another player who is expected to make the step-up is Joshua Sonni-Lambie. He made the most goal contributions for the club's U18 side last season (17) and has been in great form in pre-season as well.

A typical modern day forward, Sonni-Lambie is quick and very technical. He's got all the attributes to go very far in the game. He excels in one vs one situations and he's a threat in front of goal as well.

There are shades of Roberto Firmino about him in his link-up play and the way he drops back from the no.9 position to bring others into play.

He began the U18s opener against Stoke City in great form, too.

Sonni-Lambie registered an assist and then scored probably a goal of the season contender with a looping shot just over the half-way line to beat the Stoke City keeper.

It was shared on social media by Lewis Bower and this is a goal that reminded us of Luis Suarez's strike against Norwich City to make it a hat-trick, his first hat-trick against his favourite foe.

Sonni-Lambie's form will be very encouraging. He's expected to dominate at that level and he's going to be a key player for Liverpool in the U19 UEFA Youth League as well as the U21 Premier League.

That's the next step for the youngster. It's one he's expected to make once some of the more senior players move on from Liverpool's U21 side.

When that happens, Sonni-Lambie will get his chance at that level and if he continues to catch the eye, there will be opportunities in the first team as well.

Like we said, it's a long season, and Liverpool don't have as much attacking depth as they like. Which means there's a chance for Sonni-Lambie.
