He's COMING: Marc Guehi will join Liverpool after deadline day glitch
Liverpool narrowly missed out on the signing of Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day.
The Reds agreed to pay £35m - plus £10m in add-ons - for the Crystal Palace captain before the FA Cup holders had a last-minute change of heart.

Owing to a lack of a replacement, Palace were unwilling to let the England international go. Developments left Liverpool stunned and Guehi, 25, disappointed.

There was genuine optimism that Guehi could be signed - and it would have served as useful insurance in case Ibrahima Konate ran his contract down.
Palace want Disasi as Guehi replacement
The centre-back’s contract expires in 2026 and if Liverpool attempt to sign him in January it could be for much less than the sums quoted this summer.
And according to a new report in Caught Offside, a deal to take Guehi to Anfield looks all but inevitable.
In a report discussing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, it’s claimed that the Eagles are interested in the Frenchman - who finds himself with the FIFA Club World Cup champions’ so-called “bomb squad”.
Liverpool edge towards Guehi deal
Disasi is locked out of the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge and is widely expected to move on this winter. The 27-year-old has been targetted by not only Palace but West Ham and NEOM FC in Saudi Arabia.
“Crystal Palace are monitoring developments closely, especially as Marc Guehi edges towards a big-money move to Liverpool,” the report reads.
Liverpool have been left undermanned in the central defensive department as a result of missing out on Guehi. There is captain Virgil van Dijk, as well as Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as senior options.
Liverpool also linked with Van Hecke
Giovanni Leoni was also signed from Parma for £26m in summer - but it remains to be seen whether Arne Slot sees the 18-year-old as a legitimate first-team option.
Other centre-back options have been mentioned - including the Brighton 2024/25 player of the year Jan Paul van Hecke. Let’s see what Richard Hughes and Arne Slot have got in store for January and beyond.
