Liverpool Transfer News: Journalist refuses to rule out €50m deal
Liverpool may yet strike a €50m deal before long. Matteo Moretto refuses to rule this one out.
Liverpool have already made some difficult sales this summer. Difficult in the sense that they weren't players the club really wanted to lose.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was certainly offered several opportunities to sign a new contract. His departure was entirely his own doing.
The same with Caoimhin Kelleher. Liverpool never wanted to lose a homegrown talent as good as him but he made no secret of his desire for first-team football.
Then there's Jarell Quansah. The defender is a massive talent at centre-back but we all got the sense last season that he wasn't going to fulfil his potential at Anfield.
A big-money sale to Bayer Leverkusen worked nicely, to be honest. Maybe he'll be back one day with that buy-back clause.
These, then, were three situations where selling was making the most out of a difficult spot. And Liverpool may be about to do it all over again.

Ibrahima Konate could be sold
Ibrahima Konate's contract expires in under a year and it now looks incredibly unlikely that he signs a new one. It's a familiar situation, unfortunately.
What makes it extra familiar is that Real Madrid are waiting for him to arrive. They smell an easy transfer and the centre-back's head appears to have been turned.
Journalist Matteo Moretto certainly believes so. He told DAZN on Monday that there are no ongoing talks between Liverpool and Konate.
Negotiations have 'stalled' and Real Madrid are the likely destination. The important bit, though, is that Moretto doesn't rule out a transfer this summer.
Los Blancos are in a difficult spot, having failed to win any trophies last season and suffering an embarrassing defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup. A major signing is exactly what they're after, particularly in defence.
Liverpool would reportedly accept around €50m for Konate. If Real Madrid are willing to pay it, there are a few things the Reds could do.

Maybe they could just turn around and replace him. Maybe they could use it as an in for one of Real Madrid's players.
Either way, things could get exciting.
Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
