Not just Ekitike: Liverpool have got plans to sign even MORE forwards
This has been a landmark summer in the transfer window by anyone’s standards. Despite winning the Premier League title, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot have set about making record-breaking improvements to the squad.
We have seen Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips move on - while the incomings so far total £200m. Florian Wirtz is the big-name arrival - costing what could end up being £116m from Bayer Leverkusen.
Club-mate Jeremie Frimpong has also been onboarded as well as Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili. This week has brought numerous reports linking the Reds with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.

The Reds are now said to be locked in talks with the Bundesliga side for the 23-year-old, who has got a €100m release clause in his contract.
Liverpool intending more reinforcements
A striker would cap off Liverpool’s summer nicely but Liverpool are NOT yet prepared to end their summer spending spree. A new report in the Liverpool Echo claims the club are still intending to further their attacking options this summer.
“Anybody who believes the ongoing pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike marks the end-game for the Reds is almost certain to be very much mistaken,” the report reads.
“It seems unlikely, though, that the Reds will finish their attacking recruitment drive with the purchase of Ekitike, not least given question marks remain over the majority of the other senior forwards on the Reds' books.”
Liverpool want Mateta and Rodrygo
The Reds are still in the hunt for Rodrygo from Real Madrid - according to reports - while there could be activity for ANOTHER No9 in the shape of Jean-Philippe Mateta.
We could see Federico Chiesa, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez among the club’s senior attacking options depart - while bids could also be entertained for £25m-rated Ben Doak.
Ekitike is just the beginning
Should all those outgoing deals come to pass, Liverpool will not only require replacements but will have plenty more money to spend.

“The move for Ekitike, then, isn't the conclusion of the Reds' forward business in the transfer market this summer,” the report reads. “It's merely the beginning."
