Arne Slot has seen enough: Attacker offered to five Premier League clubs
Big changes are coming to Liverpool’s midfield and attacking sectors this summer.
Richard Hughes and Arne Slot have once again got plans to overhaul the squad - with several signings in mind. We could see new central midfielders arrive as cover and competition while one-v-one specialists will be sought out wide.
These plans plunge the futures of a lot of Liverpool players into doubt.
Curtis Jones could depart the midfield for example while Federico Chiesa and of course Mohamed Salah will be leaving from the attack.
Harvey Elliott not wanted by Arne Slot
One other player who has been hoping for a chance under Slot is Harvey Elliott.
The Premier League champions sanctioned a one-year loan deal for the England under-21 international last summer with Aston Villa chosen as his destination.
The midfielder-cum-attacker was then expected to complete a £35m permanent deal so long as certain conditions were met.
If Elliott played in 10 Premier League games the deal would become active but it’s clear Unai Emery has no intention of sanctioning the move.
Elliott will therefore return to Anfield with just one year left on his contract.
Five PL teams offered Elliott
According to a report in TEAMtalk the player’s preference is to stay and fight for a place under Arne Slot but the Dutchman won’t be swayed.
Elliott in the eyes of Slot has got no future at the club and - therefore - his representatives have been busy putting out the feelers over his next move.
The report claims Leeds United, Brighton, Brentford, Fulham and Newcastle have all been approached in regard to Elliott’s impending availability.
It will be a shame for the 22-year-old to have such an unceremonious exit - particularly as a fan favourite.
But Arne Slot has seen enough and is prepared to sell Elliott in order to generate some extra transfer income rather than risking his loss on a free in 2027.
