Liverpool are in the midst of making big changes to their frontline.

Bradley Barcola will shortly be confirmed as a new Liverpool player - with Richard Hughes striking a £120m deal with Paris Saint-Germain over the Frenchman.

The 23-year-old joins Victor Munoz in the new-look Liverpool lineup with the Spain FIFA World Cup winner onboarded earlier this summer for £34m.

Richard Hughes is still chasing wingers

More changes are afoot however. Hughes and new head coach Andoni Iraola want another one - or even two - wingers through the door before the window closes next Tuesday.

Names in the frame are thought to include Ibrahim Mbaye - Barcola’s PSG teammate - as well as fellow Senegal international Ismaila Sarr of Crystal Palace. A deal for Yankuba Minteh at this stage however would appear a remote possibility.

And new signings at this stage of the window are bound to have an impact on players already on the books.

Tottenham insisting on deal for Gakpo

For example Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott could be cleared out having failed to impress their new manager in preseason. Watch out also for Cody Gakpo - who is a long-term target for Tottenham and also on the list for Manchester City.

The £250k per week forward is on a long contract at Anfield - putting Richard Hughes in total control over setting the fee.

It is believed that the 2024/25 Premier League champions value the 27-year-old at around £72m and Iraola has refused to rule out a departure for the Netherlands international.

Roberto De Zerbi is a massive fan of Gakpo

A report in the Independent is now claiming that Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is insistent that his club complete a deal for the former PSV captain - who has been at Anfield since 2023.

“Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is insistent that the club pursue the Dutchman, despite a summer outlay already in excess of £300m,” the report reads.

Tottenham have remodelled their attack through the signings of Omar Marmoush and Savio from Man City - but De Zerbi is reported to be a massive fan of Gakpo.

The Dutchman has been in great form for Iraola thus far - both in preseason and during the opening stages of the Premier League season.

But with Barcola commanding a gigantic fee the Merseysiders need to claw back as much transfer income as possible.
