Liverpool’s summer transfer window has reached historic proportions. Florian Wirtz has arrived for a British record sum - which could reach £116m - while Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili have also come on board.

The Reds have spent over £260m thus far - all signings being expertly overseen by sporting director Richard Hughes. But the Anfield club won’t be stopping there.

Alexander Isak is firmly in Liverpool’s sights - and could be available for £130m to £150m. That would be a landmark signing - beating Wirtz’s British transfer record after only a matter of weeks.

However, Liverpool are not ONLY focussed on the here and now. Certain signings have been made with the future in mind - as the acquisition of goalkeeper Armin Pecsi proves.

Liverpool signing the best young talents

Liverpool are capable of setting out a comprehensive development plan for young recruits - emphasised by the breakthrough of Rio Ngumoha during this preseason campaign.

And the Reds have repeated the trick with the signing of Salford City striker Will Wright. The 17-year-old will come in for a £200k fee from the League Two club - even though Arsenal offered MORE.

The Gunners thought they had secured the signing of the young forward - who scored over 40 goals at various levels for Salford last season. Nonetheless, Wright preferred Liverpool - enticed in part by the vision for his future that the club set out.

Will Wright attracted by Liverpool offer

That’s according to a new report in The Times, which claims Wright will be placed with the club’s youth and underage sector.

“Arsenal had appeared to lead the chase for Wright after agreeing a deal at a higher price,” the report reads.

“Crucially, however, the player preferred to move to Merseyside, partly for geographical reasons but also because of the attractiveness of Liverpool’s project, and so Salford were forced to accept a lower offer.”

There is no doubt that Arsenal have a decent academy pathway - exemplified by Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and new sensation Max Dowman.

But that wasn’t sufficient for Wright to resist the lure of the 20-time English top-flight champions.
