Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool.

Following a poor campaign - both individually and collectively - the Egyptian King reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.

The 34-year-old is currently strutting his stuff at the FIFA World Cup with Egypt - contributing a goal and two assists across the Pharaohs' opening two group stage matches.

Salah is demonstrating he still has got plenty to offer and will be a man in demand when his Liverpool contract officially expires on June 30.

Salah offered deal by Al-Hilal

Teams like Juventus, Roma and Fenerbahce have got ambitions of keeping the two-time African footballer of the year in Europe. But the lure of Saudi Arabia could prove strong.

Only a few months ago it was reported that Al-Ittihad were putting together a package worth around £1.67m per WEEK in wages for Salah.

And now comes a report from Bruno Andrade on ESPN Brasil that Al-Hilal are making Salah their priority in the transfer window.

Salah contract offer is LESS than expected

The trusted insider nonetheless revealed that Salah’s prospective salary in the Saudi Pro League is going to be a lot LOWER than he once might have expected.

Speaking on the Fala a Fonte programme Andrade disclosed that Al-Hilal had drawn up a contract worth €60m for Salah across three seasons - with another year tacked on as an option.

That deal would be worth €20m per year for three to four seasons for a potential total of €80m - a little less in gross terms at least than he was making at Liverpool.

Salah in, Nunez out

But of course Salah’s earnings will outstrip those he made on Merseyside owing to the Saudi Arabian tax arrangements.

Salah could end up replacing Darwin Nunez - who looks set to have his Al-Hilal deal cancelled following a poor season.

The Uruguay international - who joined from Liverpool in a £46m deal last summer - was edged out of the domestic squad in favour of Karim Benzema.

Liverpool had been linked with a return move for the 27-year-old - but he could end up moving to AC Milan instead.

Salah would then take over Nunez’s mammoth Al-Hilal contract - albeit on far less favourable terms than he initially anticipated and a fraction of what Cristiano Ronaldo is making at Al-Nassr.
