Tottenham are circling the Premier League drain - and a defeat to Liverpool on Sunday will send them even closer to the Championship.

And right now it’s very much in Liverpool’s interest to send Spurs down - as it may mean more favourable conditions for a transfer.

Spurs have got one of the continent’s most promising defenders on their books and he has been tipped to leave if they drop to the second tier.

But Luka Vuskovic, 19, is not currently playing for the Lilywhites in this doomed Premier League campaign. Instead the 6’4 defensive colossus is on loan at Hamburg in the Bundesliga - following his arrival at Tottenham from Hajduk Split in Croatia.

Relegate Spurs and sign Vuskovic

Vuskovic is enjoying a spectacular breakout campaign in Germany and has come onto the radar for a lot of top European clubs.

Liverpool have been mentioned in previous reports - with Barcelona’s relationship with the player’s representative - Pini Zahavi - also standing them in good stead.

A report in Sport claims that relegation will seriously harm Tottenham’s ability to hang onto the promising defender and that a summer exit for around €40m (£34m) could materialise.

"Relegation to the Championship would jeopardize his future in London," the report reads. "There's talk of a deal worth at least €40 million," the report reads.

£34m is a bargain for Vuskovic

Having signed Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet Richard Hughes seriously cannot afford to lose out on a deal for another one of the continent’s coming great defenders.

That’s why Liverpool have got to play their part on Sunday in helping to send the Europa League champions down. It’s unlikely that Barca would be willing or able to pay such a price for a prospect like the young Croatian.

Therefore Liverpool can get in front with an early approach for his services.
