Liverpool have already lined up a £35m replacement for Alexis Mac Allister
Alexis Mac Allister's Liverpool future is far from clear.
The Argentine hasn't been his usual self this term with his work rate seeming to plummet.
Dominik Szoboszlai has managed to pick up most of the pieces left behind by the former Brighton man but, more often than not, it's been clear that Mac Allister's performance levels have dropped massively.
This lack of form has sparked many rumours with Real Madrid even linked with an interest in the 27-year-old.
However, if he's moved on, Arne Slot will have to source a replacement for another one of his first-team stars which is a difficult task in itself.
But, one journalist believes he may have found the perfect player for Liverpool to fill that void.
Mamadou Sangare should be on top of Liverpool's midfield shortlist
Seeing as though almost every Premier League club is looking for a new midfielder or two this summer, Liverpool are going to have to cast their net far and wide to find their perfect man.
Indeed, the usual options such as Adam Wharton and Elliott Anderson have been floated about but, since the two Englishman are some of the most sought-after players in the world, competition for them will be fierce.
This is where Liverpool's transfer market creativity will have to come into play.
And, as per an update from journalist Bence Bocsak, Mamadou Sangare could be the exact sort of player Liverpool are looking at signing.
"[Mamadou] Sangare is a high intensity player," he said on the Anfield Watch Podcast.
"He is very good at making quick decisions on the ball, he [does] quick passes, he’s a little bit similar to [Alexis] Mac Allister but on top of that he’s got that intensity, he’s got that running ability that Liverpool have missed.
"For me, I think he’d be a really nice fit as well, and again, considering RC Lens paid €8 million or something like that for Sangare, they’re not going to want to demand a massive price tag.
"I think there’s talk of €40 million to €50 million which translates to around £35 million and that is a lot more of a reasonable fee."
Mamadou Sangare ticks every box for Liverpool
As mentioned, Liverpool's midfield is in need of a rebirth.
The Anfield outfit have massively struggled this season with the club currently fourth in the Premier League table.
Usually, earning Champions League qualification wouldn't be frowned upon but, since they only just won the title and spent over £400 million on new players in the summer, a lot more was expected of the Anfield outfit.
However, that hasn't been the case which has led to the club needing to re-enter the transfer market to bolster their ranks once again.
Sangare joined RC Lens in the 2025-26 summer transfer window for around £6.9 million.
And, while many didn't think much of the transfer, he's been an instant hit.
The Malian has played as a central midfielder for most of the current campaign and he's even contributed to seven goals across all competitions thus far.
Sangare is only 23 years old which makes his £35 million price tag understandable, especially with the promise he's shown this term.
There's no knowing what the future has in store for Liverpool and Sangare but, if the Red do end up needing a new midfielder, the Malian would certainly be a step in the right direction.
