Liverpool forward edging closer to Anfield exit, two clubs are now interested

Liverpool will be wanting to do a lot better than they did last season during Andoni Iraola's first term in charge.

The Spaniard took over from Arne Slot after the Dutchman was sacked due to his poor performances as the Reds' head coach.

Most fans wanted him gone but, after Fenway Sports Group allowed Mohamed Salah to mutually terminate his contract, most people thought that the former Feyenoord boss was going to stay put.

However, that was obviously not the case and now, Liverpool need to try and rebuild their squad and get themselves back to the top of the table.

Many players have already been linked with a potential move to L4 but, as has always been the case with the Anfield outfit, they'll need to sell some players before making any concrete moves.

At the moment, this is a bit of a problem for Liverpool as they don't really have enough depth to be able to move players on.

But, that hasn't stopped clubs from making their interest in the Reds' first-team players more than known.

Keyrol Figueroa is wanted by Barnsley and Salford

One of Liverpool's biggest problem areas this season is going to be their attack.

Salah has left and, with Hugo Ekitike out until at least January, the Anfield outfit have a severe lack of depth among their attacking ranks.

Indeed, Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and Federico Chiesa are all valid options for Liverpool's attacking line but, if they want to get back to winning some silverware, they need a bit more firepower than that to be added to their ranks.

With all this in mind, Liverpool also need to develop their future attackers which is why the latest update from the Daily Mail about Keyrol Figueroa's future is rather important.

"Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Keyrol Figueroa is attracting interest from Barnsley and Salford," they wrote.

"The 19-year-old impressed for the U21s during their recent camp in Slovakia, and scored in a friendly against Cardiff on Saturday."

Liverpool have been known to have one of the best academies in the world.

Several of their academy graduates have gone on to have long, successful careers in football with some such as Steven Gerrard even being recognised as one of the best Premier League players ever.

More recently, players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones have been regular features in Liverpool's starting XI and, without their performances, the Reds wouldn't be anywhere near as good as they are now.

However, after Slot chose to barely play any of the Reds' academy prospects, the development of some players has halted which is why loan moves are needed.

Figueroa played 19 games for the Reds' youth ranks last term and, during that time, he played as a number nine and netted 12 goals across all competitions.

The Honduras international has just extended his Liverpool contract and, since he's now 19 years old, he could do with getting some regular senior football under his belt.

Here's hoping that Barnsley or Salford sign him and allow him to lead their attacking line during the 2025-26 season.
