Arne Slot has seen enough: Mamardashvili to coming to take over from Alisson
Liverpool’s summer transfer window totalled around £450m worth of spending.
The British transfer record was smashed twice - first for Florian Wirtz who came on board from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee that could reach £116m and then Alexander Isak was signed from Newcastle for £125m.

Other players coming to Anfield included Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong - all for sizeable packages. And one new acquisition who has perhaps slipped in quite unnoticed is Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgian goalkeeper, 24, was actually signed from Valencia in the summer of 2024 for a reported fee that could reach £29m.
Mamardashvili wants to be No1
He remained on loan with the LaLiga club for the 2024/25 season - proving to be a crucial fixture in their lineup as they staved off relegation.
Mamardashvili took up residence on Merseyside over the summer having previously made it clear he would be coming to compete for Alisson Becker’s No1 shirt.
But the Brazilian has so far withstood Mamardashvili’s level of competition - remaining Arne Slot’s first choice and one of the very first names on his team sheet.
Mamardashvili set for first start
Under contract until 2029, Mamardashvili WILL get his chances as it is expected that Alisson is going to leave in a couple of years.
But he is ready to stake a claim whenever he gets the opportunity - and his first competitive outing for the Reds is imminent.
Alisson is sure to be rested for the EFL Cup game against Southampton on Tuesday night - and Mamardashvili is going to be fielded from the start.
Mamardashvili 'pencilled in' for Saints
That’s according to a report from Liverpool insider Lewis Steele - who claims that the shot-stopper’s debut is now around the corner.
“The Georgia goalkeeper was officially signed this summer from Valencia for £29m and is pencilled in to make his debut next week when the Reds take on Southampton in the Carabao Cup third round,” the report reads.
For this season at least, Mamardashvili is likely to be restricted to appearances in the cup competitions as well as covering Alisson’s absences.
His previous deputy - Caoimhin Kelleher - featured in 20 matches overall last season and Vitezslav Jaros even picked up a Premier League appearance.
So chances will come Mamardashvili’s way. He’s got to be ready to impress when it happens - starting with Southampton on Tuesday.
