'Invisible': Trent Alexander-Arnold issued with damning Real Madrid verdict
Liverpool fans were left disappointed when Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club following the 2025/26 Premier League title-winning season.
A Red for two decades the full-back decided on a move to Real Madrid - who paid £10m to end his Liverpool contract a month early.
Trent went straight into the squad for the FIFA Club World Cup - but missed the semi-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain owing to injury.
That absence was enough to raise the eyebrows of the Madrid media - who were questioning the utility of signing an injury-prone right-back.
The 27-year-old’s case hasn’t been helped by two MORE injuries - one suffered in September which kept him out for around two months and another devastating muscle injury suffered in December.
Trent savaged after Getafe defeat
The England international is finally winning significant minutes under Alvaro Arbeloa - the former Liverpool right-back who replaced Xabi Alonso in January.
But Trent’s time in the Spanish capital isn’t getting any easier - and the knives were out again on Monday night following their awful defeat in La Liga at home against Getafe.
Trent was singled out in the Diario AS player ratings article for his poor performance - with the Spanish outlet offering him 3/10.
'Invisible' Trent offered very little
“Worse than in recent matches. He offered very little in attack and looked hesitant in defence,” it reads.
“His main quality, however, remains clear: a touch worthy of a world-class midfielder, one that greatly facilitates the build-up. That is immediately noticeable.
“In almost every other aspect, he was invisible. Most disappointing was his lack of runs to the byline, finishing with 28 per cent crossing accuracy, two out of seven. Arbeloa replaced him before the hour mark with Carvajal.”
Madrid ready to move on from Trent Alexander-Arnold
As noted by the player ratings article Trent was HOOKED on the 55-minute mark - with long-serving veteran Dani Carvajal coming in.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Alexander-Arnold - who looks set to miss out on his dream of playing at the World Cup for England under Thomas Tuchel.
Madrid are thought to be in the market for a new right-back to cover Trent’s deficiencies - with Achraf Hakimi and Wesley Franca both mentioned as potential incomings.
But one thing is clear following Madrid’s latest horror show - Trent’s Real Madrid nightmare is going from bad to worse.
