Liverpool finalise four wingers to star under Andoni Iraola next season
Liverpool are making big alterations to their attack this summer.
We have already seen Victor Munoz arrive on a €40m deal from Osasuna. And of course Liverpool are still active in the chase for Yan Diomande.
The outgoing Premier League champions had an opening offer of around €100m knocked back by RB Leipzig but will return with another bid soon.
Sporting director Richard Hughes may need to go beyond the £116m paid to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz - and there is little doubt that Diomande, 19, is the primary target.
Interest coming in for Gakpo
Space is being made on the flanks to accommodate new arrivals. Mohamed Salah has reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.
And Federico Chiesa, 28, is likely to join the Egyptian King in the departure lounge with Como and Napoli thought to be keen on bringing the Italian back to Serie A.
Another player linked with an exit in recent days has been Cody Gakpo. The 27-year-old was a favourite under Arne Slot - hoovering up the minutes that many Liverpool fans wanted to go to Rio Ngumoha.
Gakpo is tied into a long-term, £250k per week contract but that hasn’t stopped speculation for the Dutch international.
No offers for Gakpo
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is thought to be keen while AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have also been associated with a move for the former PSV captain.
Right now however Gakpo is set to STAY according to a report in the Athletic. Liverpool have not yet received any firm interest in the left-winger - who can also deputise up front.
“Despite speculation over the latter’s future, Liverpool have received no approaches for the Dutchman, who appears to have regained some belief with his performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup,” the report reads.
Gakpo, Ngumoha, Munoz and Diomande will be Liverpool's options out wide
New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola wants FOUR wingers at his disposal next season - in order to ensure rotations and freshness in the lineup. And the report reveals that those names will be finalised once Diomande’s deal goes through with Leipzig.
Liverpool will use Munoz, Ngumoha, Gakpo and the incoming Diomande as their wing options under the new Spanish head coach.
“As things stand, if the Diomande deal gets done, it’s set to be the Ivory Coast international, Munoz, Ngumoha and Gakpo providing the creativity from the flanks in the coming campaign,” the report reads.
