Liverpool are closer than ever to signing their dream target after Fabrizio Romano update
Liverpool have already been linked with so many players this summer.
The Anfield outfit are in desperate need of a rebuild and, even though they've only added two new faces to their ranks so far, it still feels like more needs to be done.
Even though Andoni Iraola is only the Reds' head coach, he still has a lot of say in the transfer business that his club does.
For example, he was one of the main driving forces behind Liverpool's deal for Victor Munoz and, since he's expected to be Liverpool's manager for the foreseeable future, all of their signings will be based around his system.
However, since so many other clubs also need to add a fair few new players to their ranks, the competition for transfers is high.
But, as we get deeper into the 2026-27 summer transfer window, it does feel like one of Liverpool's dream targets is edging closer to an Anfield switch before it slams shut.
Bradley Barcola could be replaced at Paris Saint-Germain by Mika Godts
Yan Diomande was obviously Liverpool's first-choice to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.
The 19-year-old can comfortably play on either wing and, even though he's only 19 years old, the attacker was arguably one of the best in the Bundesliga.
After his 12 goals that he managed to put away, it was obvious that several clubs would be vying for his transfer and, because of this, Liverpool were beaten to the punch and ruled out of the race.
This forced Iraola and Richard Hughes to focus their attention elsewhere which is why Bradley Barcola came into the equation.
Since then, the Frenchman has been extensively linked with a Liverpool move with most people thinking that Diomande would be PSG's replacement for the 23-year-old.
However, as per a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano, it seems like Luis Enrique has a different idea about how he could replace Barcola.
"EXCLUSIVE: Paris Saint-Germain open talks to sign Mika Godts from Ajax as new winger," he wrote via his personal X account.
"Talented Belgian winger seen as option in addition to Maghnes Akliouche (almost done).
"Ajax wanted to keep Godts but now aware of PSG in initial talks for the 21 year old talent."
Liverpool signing Bradley Barcola would be a major statement of intent
One of the Reds' main areas of concern this summer is their attack.
As mentioned, Salah has exited which is a massive problem in itself.
But, the fact that Hugo Ekitike is going to be out injured until at least January and both Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo could end up exiting are major causes for concern.
Iraola's system thrives off of an attack that knows how to work together and play off one another.
So, the fact that Liverpool's attacking line isn't sorted yet is certainly concerning.
Several attackers have been linked with L4 over the last couple of months but, of the lot, Barcola would be the biggest sign that Liverpool mean business.
They're wanting to get back to the top of the Premier League table and want to start competing for silverware again so, without an attacker or two being brought in, it feels like that would be impossible.
But, since Barcola is only 23 years old and is already as good as he is, he'd instantly be able to improve the Reds' chances of getting back to the top.
Here's hoping that some concrete moves are made by Liverpool, especially now that PSG have two potential options to replace him.
