Journalist James Pearce has provided an update on Liverpool's plans for the upcoming January transfer window.

The Reds only purchased one player during the summer. Liverpool signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €40 million.

Unfortunately for the Anfield faithful, the winter will be even less exciting from a signings perspective. According to Pearce, as cited by The Anfield Buzz's Twitter account, the club won't be making any signings when the January transfer window opens.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It is a shame to hear that Liverpool don't plan on signing anyone in January. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a new face representing the club.

However, we are not remotely shocked by Pearce's update. Liverpool have made very few signings in recent January transfer windows.

On another note, we do hope that the Reds have a busy summer. The average age of the current Liverpool squad is 27.2.

The aforementioned figure highlights that some of Jurgen Klopp's players are entering the backend of their careers.

Therefore, the club will have to start making some signings for the future.
