Brazilian star is coming to replace Mo Salah at Liverpool

A Brazilian star is the most obvious choice to replace Mo Salah at Liverpool.

The departure of the Egyptian at the end of the season will mark the emotional end of an unforgettable era for the Reds.

For almost a decade, Salah has been the driving force behind Liverpool’s attack - a player who consistently delivered goals, carried the expectations of being the club’s biggest star, and remarkably maintained elite standards while rarely suffering injuries.

Season after season, he produced moments that elevated Liverpool back to the pinnacle of English and European football, helping shape one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history. Salah was never the type of player to drift in and out of form; his brilliance was relentless.

Whether Liverpool were competing for major honours or navigating periods of transition, he remained their most dependable match-winner, capable of deciding games in an instant.

Footballers of Salah’s calibre are exceptionally rare, and when they leave, the void they create is enormous. The reality is that replacing him directly is almost impossible. There is no simple solution, no ready-made successor who can replicate everything he brought to the team.

That is now the challenge facing sporting director Richard Hughes and Liverpool’s recruitment department.

It is a task that may require several new signings, tactical adjustments, and a fresh attacking identity. Liverpool may never truly replace Salah, but they must still find a way to move forward - and that responsibility now rests with Hughes and the club’s decision-makers.

The only possible way you can replace Salah is through the aggregate. Liverpool won't sign a like-for-like player because he doesn't exist.

But it's clear that what Liverpool have been building towards already is replacing Salah's numbers and creativity with the likes of Alexander Isak, who will hopefully deliver the source of goals and Florian Wirtz, who will create chances and make this team more open.

Obviously someone is going to have to fill the void on the right-wing as well. Liverpool are going to have to bring in at least one winger who can play that role, if not more.

But so far the names who are available on the market and who have been linked as Salah successors have lacked one tiny but important detail - they are not left-footed right-wingers.

Bradley Barcola has played most of his career minutes as a left-winger. Yan Diomande has played a lot on the right-wing but he is a right-footed player, so there will be question marks over whether he could actually play that right-wing role effectively or in the same way as Salah did at Liverpool.

This is where a player who has not been mentioned as one on Liverpool's radar but who will likely be on the market this summer will come into question.

He is Brazilian and he has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League for Manchester City...

We're talking about Savinho. Man City have recently signed Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki which has had a massive impact on Savinho's minutes.

The 22-year-old has started just 12 games all season, and he's not even been included in Brazil's 55-men shortlist for the World Cup. Given how City strengthen their attack every summer, he's going to want to be on the move this summer.

And this is a market opportunity, if it does become available, Liverpool will not be stupid enough to at least attempt to force through even if it would mean trying to lure a player from their direct rivals.

Savinho is exactly the profile Liverpool are looking for right now in order to replace the departing Salah. He's left-footed and he can play on the right-wing.

On top of that he offers speed and one vs one quality in abundance.

Over his career at Girona and Man City, he has averaged 9.18 dribbles per 90 minutes and completed 58% of his attempts - which ranks him among the very elite wingers in this area.

That intensity, his speed and his ability to be direct on the right-wing will appeal massively to Liverpool.

On top of that, one of the best things about Savinho is that he is a provider, he has averaged 0.22 expected assists per 90 minutes for Man City and Girona.

And during the same period he averaged 3.85 passes into the penalty area per 90 minutes, which is an insanely high volume - especially when you combine that with 4.32 crosses per 90 minutes as well.

This is the kind of player you're going to need to bring the best out of Alexander Isak, and given Liverpool's data team will crunch and look at these numbers than let their judgement be clouded by the fact that Savinho is not being used at City - he very much feels like a proper Michael Edwards signing.

The kind of signing that saw Liverpool overlook Salah's struggles at Chelsea and take a punt on him - which worked out pretty well.

Savinho could be the natural heir. City paid £30m for him and even if Liverpool have to pay double that, he'd be a no-brainer.

At such a young age, and the fact that he will likely be on the market - there's simply no better left-footed right-winger available.

Which is why it's becoming increasingly obvious the Brazilian will be the man to replace Salah at Anfield.
