Liverpool enjoyed another busy transfer window this summer, adding several top talents to Andoni Iraola's squad.

The arrivals of Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola were instant boosts to the quality of the squad, but a number of departures led to many supporters feeling that the side remains a work in progress.

Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones were the four biggest exits in the window and the Reds' midfield has been left suffering as a result.

With the winter window now a topic of discussion in recruitment meetings across the country, Liverpool's next midfielder could be set to make his audition this weekend.

Liverpool's fourth £100 million signing is an Iraola favourite

Neither Liverpool's attack nor backline have been perfect this campaign, but they both seem to be in a much better place than the midfield.

The Reds have lacked balance in the middle of the park, and a fresh face in the midfield looks necessary if Liverpool are serious about competing on multiple fronts again.

Luckily for Iraola and the recruitment team at Anfield, Liverpool will get to take a good look this weekend at the player many believe will be the club's next midfielder, Alex Scott.

Scott plays for Iraola's former side Bournemouth and has become one of the most talked about players in the Premier League over the last 18 months.

According to transfer insider David Ornstein, it will likely take a fee of over £100 million to prise the Englishman away from The Cherries, and Liverpool will get the perfect opportunity to assess if the 23-year-old is worth that price tag at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

Scott's quality is clear to see but a great performance against the Reds could be what it takes to seal his move to Merseyside.

Liverpool will not be unopposed however, with Manchester United and Chelsea both reportedly keeping tabs on the midfielder, but Iraola's relationship with Scott could become key in the race for his signature.

With Liverpool chasing only their second win of the Premier League campaign, Alex Scott has the opportunity to show Liverpool exactly why he needs to become their fourth £100m signing on Sunday.
