Liverpool are teetering on the brink of a crisis - losing FOUR successive Premier League games.

The Premier League champions have been poor of late with £450m-worth of new talent not having the required uplift as yet.

Arne Slot’s squad won the top flight last season but sporting director Richard Hughes opted to bring in several new faces regardless.

The Reds broke the British transfer record twice for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak - and plenty of other players came in too.

Liverpool could move for Salah replacement

Arguably only Hugo Ekitike has got off to a flying start for the Reds and there is an increasing sense that the Merseyside club could go back into the market for more forwards in the near future.

A replacement for Luis Diaz wasn’t signed last summer - with Hughes and Slot opting for Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha on that side instead.

Mo Salah meanwhile is now 33 and although he is under contract until 2027 it has been speculated that the Anfield outfit could opt to begin the process to replace him over the next 12 months.

The Egyptian King scored in the weekend defeat at the hands of Brentford - but has been a long way from his consistent best this season.

Semenyo and Gordon on the LFC shortlist

And now a new report in Football Insider has detailed the TWO names Liverpool recruiters have got on their list for next summer.

“Liverpool are keeping tabs on Antoine Semenyo and Anthony Gordon as they plot yet another mega-money forward signing,” the report reads.

“Semenyo and Gordon are highly rated by Liverpool’s recruitment team, who are impressed by the penetration they offer to their clubs as well as their ability to play in multiple positions across the front line.”

Salah tipped to leave

Semenyo, 25, has been the in-form player in the Premier League this season - scoring six goals and adding three assists in his first nine games.

He signed a new contract last summer - with a reported release clause - and Liverpool will be right there for his signature should Bournemouth decide to cash in.

Gordon, meanwhile, spent time at Liverpool before embarking on his career with Everton and now Newcastle. The 24-year-old last season agreed a new long-term contract at St. James’ Park but did come close to joining the Reds in 2024.

He has been one of the standout players in the Champions League league phase so far this term. Primarily a left-winger, Gordon can play across the frontline while Semenyo is equally comfortable playing left or right.
