Liverpool are always on the lookout for the best young talents around. Anfield is the place to be for emerging stars - as the rapid rise of Rio Ngumoha will confirm.
The 17-year-old has just signed his first professional deal having established himself as a key part of Arne Slot’s first team squad.

And now it appears the Reds have got their eye on the top prospect in Scotland football in the shape of Hearts starlet Keir McMeekin.

Despite being only 15 years old, the midfielder has been on the fringes of the Scottish side’s first team - joining in with training - and the Edinburgh giants would like to offer him a pro deal when he turns 16 in February.

However, Hearts are vulnerable to interest from English Premier League clubs - who would be able to take McMeekin on a scholarship contract before then.
According to the Edinburgh News, Liverpool are among the leading contenders for McMeekin - along with Manchester City, Manchester United and Brighton.
The same outlet reports that City have stolen a march on their rivals with an OFFER to Hearts for McMeekin.
McMeekin not made his mind up
It also claims that other clubs have made their attempts to secure his signature. However, in a boost for Liverpool, it’s been confirmed that McMeekin has not yet decided on his next steps.
“McMeekin and his family visited Manchester for a tour of City’s plush facilities as English Premier League sides look to tempt him south of the Border,” the report reads.
“He is exploring his options at this point and also travelled to two other top-flight teams in England for talks as he weighs up his next move. City are one of several clubs to make a formal offer to Hearts to cover training compensation for the talented 15-year-old.”
Liverpool boast a wealth of underage talent coming through the ranks - including not only Ngumoha but also Trey Nyoni, Trent Kone-Doherty and Amara Nallo.
It’s likely McMeekin would be placed with the club’s under-18s before embarking on a pathway to the first team.
