Real Madrid launch BOMBSHELL Alexis Mac Allister bid
Liverpool might be on the receiving end of a spectacular approach for one of their stars very soon.
In spite of how badly the Reds' results are right now - losing six of their last seven games - it's clear that Arne Slot's squad is littered with quality; we're merely just waiting for the players to get going.
The style of play being used this season has flustered Liverpool and different individual fitness issues, alongside the sheer number of new signings made in the summer, has made it a tough start.
But any approaches made for the players will come at an extremely high cost. FSG has built this squad with the future in mind, and while our form is bad right now, the players' class is permanent.
As such, it's rare to see one of the big names being targeted. It's quite a bombshell moment.
Real Madrid eye January move for Mac Allister
According to a report from Indykaila on X, the Spanish giants are lurking around the possibility of signing World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister this winter, after spending two years on Merseyside.
Of course, this news should be taken with a pinch of salt given the source involved, but it's been largely confirmed this summer that Indykaila are aware of genuine pieces of intel regarding transfers.
As such, we'll consider the claim at face-value, and what a move it would be if Liverpool agree to it.
We've seen updates from Spain in recent months claiming that Xabi Alonso is interested in the Argentinian, but a sale has never been seriously considered. Now, however, it might be different.
The 26-year-old has failed to hit the ground running this season, and when you consider the fact that his levels dropped off at the end of last season as well, it's clear that we have an issue on our hands.
Across 13 games, he's managed to play just 637 minutes, which is particularly bizarre because of how strong his partnership with Ryan Gravenberch is. Ordinarily, he's one of the first players in the XI.
Dominik Szoboszlai has been playing him off the park this season, as one of the few Reds who seem able to play at the standards that Liverpool expect from them. And so begs the question, would it be possible for FSG to consider an approach from Real Madrid, if a significant transfer fee was offered?
According to Football Transfers, Mac Allister is valued at €118.5m (£104.4m), so we'd need to see a figure reaching those heights or more, but Liverpool could significantly benefit from letting him go.
The update from Indykaila notes that two 'elite' midfielders would be signed to replace him, with 21-year-old Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace noted as one of them. Of course, difficulty of pulled off such a bold plan hardly needs explaining, and it'd be better to consider this move in the summer so that Liverpool would have enough time to organise everything.
But the interest from Real Madrid is not intrinsically a bad thing right now. Something needs to change and Wharton has prove to be a more defensively-sound midfielder than the Argentina.
So I wouldn't rule this one out, although the complexities involved will be truly mind-boggling.
