Mo Salah JETS out as Fabrizio Romano confirms agent talks
Liverpool have averted a major crisis over Mo Salah.
The Egyptian King caused controversy following the Premier League champions’ match against Leeds on December 6.
In an explosive interview, Salah claimed his relationship with Arne Slot was non-existent and that an unnamed figure wanted him out of the club.
Although his contract extends until summer 2027 it was speculated that sporting director Richard Hughes would be prepared to sanction a deal for Salah as soon as January.
The 33-year-old was left out of the matchday squad for the game against Inter in the Champions League amid uncertainty over his future.
Salah jets out to AFCON
But happily for the club and the player it appears relationships have been patched up in the short term at least. Salah returned to the squad for the game against Brighton last weekend - coming off the bench to provide an assist for Hugo Ekitike.
The winger will now be away from the squad for quite a long period due to Egypt’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
That should give both Salah and the club enough breathing space to figure out their next moves before the player returns for the second half of the season.
Fabrizio Romano - the renowned Italian transfer expert - has now claimed that Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas is now due to hold showdown talks with club delegates while Salah is away at AFCON.
Salah agent will hold Liverpool talks
“Many of you asking me what’s next now with Mo Salah. Well, Mo is traveling for the AFCON. So Mo will not be available for the next weeks for Liverpool,” he tells his YouTube audience.
“What’s going to happen in England and in Liverpool is that the agent of Mo Salah Ramy Abbas will be in England to have conversations with Liverpool management and to discuss the situation of Mo.
“So after Mo out of the squad against Inter, after Mo was back against Brighton, after Mo entering in the first half and delivering an assist, breaking another record and showing his quality once again.
“Now it is going to be time for Mo Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas to talk to the club and to take a decision together on what’s going to happen next.
“Again guys, I maintain my information on what Liverpool believe. Liverpool say ‘we are not in a hurry to sell Salah, to find a solution for Salah. If he wants to stay at these conditions. we’re more than happy’."
Salah's contract worth £400k per week
All options right now remain in play - with clubs in Saudi Arabia and MLS keen to offer Salah his next destination.
Liverpool may well be hoping that Salah sticks it out until the end of the season in order to help them get back up the table and fulfil their goals in the Champions League.
His £400k contract has around 18 months left to run and given Salah’s prominence in the game - not to mention his status as a world-class player - the club would still be entitled to ask interested parties for a decent fee.
