Even more madness looks set to hit Liverpool after a €80m offer. The Reds are making moves happen this summer.

Liverpool have had the craziest transfer window of any club on the planet. They’ve spent over £70m on new full-backs, shattered their transfer record and (at the time of writing) are about to spend another potential £80m on a striker.

There’s the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, too. Signed last summer, the goalkeeper links up with the Reds for the upcoming season.

It’s difficult not to get excited looking at the talent arriving at Liverpool this summer. It’s a far cry from 2024 where Federico Chiesa was the sold first-team addition, and even that deal was just an opportunistic one.

This time around, the club want to upgrade the squad significantly. It’s about moving on those players who aren’t quite the right fit under Arne Slot and bringing in those who would be.

It was always going to be the plan - last season was a transitional season to see who fit the system. Only, it was a transitional season in which Liverpool won the Premier League.

One thing to focus on there, though, is the ‘moving on’ part. There hasn't been too much of that so far this summer.

Liverpool do want to sell some stars and replace them - no question there. And it looks like one may now be on his way.

That will only trigger more madness.

Liverpool madness on the way

It appears Luis Diaz might be off. Bild reported this week that Liverpool and Bayern Munich are now optimistic about finding an agreement, while Talksport suggest the incoming offer will meet the asking price.

Such an offer would be for around €80m. That's a mammoth amount and the third-largest sale in Liverpool's history, should it happen, after Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suárez.

It would also guarantee a new signing and probably a major one. Arne Slot wants to have two top players for every role on the pitch and losing Diaz would create a gap.

A left-winger would have to come in, while Liverpool would certainly have the money to make it happen. Rodrygo Goes is heavily linked with a move if Diaz were to depart.

There are easy links to Anthony Gordon, too, given Liverpool tried to sign him a year ago. Not to mention the need to boost the homegrown quota.

So while it's difficult to say who would come in, we can quite comfortably say someone would come in. Liverpool will want to use any money generated from selling Diaz to fund a superstar replacement.

This transfer window's already been a mad one. Bayern's offer will only push that further.

Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
