€80m Liverpool deal is now OFF
Liverpool can now rule out an €80m deal this summer. It promised to be one of the biggest of the transfer but it won't be happening.
Liverpool are right on the brink of striking a club-record transfer for Florian Wirtz. The Bayer Leverkusen star will sign for the Reds this weekend, maybe even on Friday.

The deal, which starts at £100m, could become a British transfer record if add-ons are met. Liverpool haven't broken that particular record since 1995.
Incredibly, the club may not even stop there. There are hints at another mega-signing and one that might break the transfer record for a second time.
But to fund that, Liverpool have got to get some further sales done. There's not actually any room for a new forward, for instance, unless at least one more star leaves.
With that in mind, a potential deal suffered a bit of a blow.

Luis Diaz to Barcelona is off
Barcelona went into this transfer window wanting a winger and all suggestions were that Luis Diaz topped their list. Sporting director Deco has been a fan of the Colombian for a while now, and Diaz's contract talks with Liverpool have been at a standstill with just two years remaining on his deal.
Sport were among those claiming he was priority no.1. Liverpool hoped to get €80m out of a sale, slapping that price tag on Diaz and seeing if Barcelona would bite.
They haven't. Barcelona are now closing in on a deal for Nico Williams, per Fabrizio Romano, their alternative to Diaz and a player they've wanted for at least a couple of years now.
A race that appeared to be heating up has now cooled off. Though, it doesn't entirely rule out Diaz leaving.
Al-Nassr remain big fans of Diaz and have reportedly tried to get a deal done this summer. Barcelona leaving the table certainly improves their chances of doing so.

The Liverpool and Barcelona deal, though, is entirely off. That won't be happening and Al-Nassr remain the only realistic sale if Diaz is to leave this summer.
