Andy Robertson looks on the verge of completing a transfer to Tottenham.

News of the 31-year-old’s impending departure took fans by surprise on Friday - with it previously expected that the Scotland captain would remain at Anfield AT LEAST until the end of his contract.

With his deal expiring in summer 2026 Spurs have jumped in early to land Robertson - who will be desperate for first-team football ahead of the FIFA World Cup in the summer.

And Robbo isn’t the only Liverpool player being targetted by the North London side this winter.

Because talk has been gathering steam over the last week or so suggesting that Curtis Jones could be on his way to Tottenham.

The midfielder - who is only under contract until 2027 - is the subject of intense interest from Thomas Frank’s side.

Despite landing Conor Gallagher earlier in the window the Europa League champions remain focussed on landing Jones as an extra attacking threat.

Tottenham also want Curtis Jones

Reports state a bid of around £30m could be imminent for the England international - with Spurs seeking to take advantage of the playmaker’s expiring contract.

With no new deal in sight Richard Hughes may well be tempted to cash in on Jones rather than waiting until 2027 when his contract expires and losing him for nothing.

It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs manage to land both Premier League title-winning players before the end of the window.

The timing of course is interesting.

What could have provoked Spurs into action for two Liverpool players firmly established in the first-team picture? Who, if anyone, could have tipped them off about Robertson and Jones’ potential availability?

According to a report by DAVEOCKOP it’s none other than John Heitinga - the newly-appointed Tottenham assistant coach.

Heitinga driving Jones and Robertson signings

The 42-year-old has plenty of insider knowledge from his Anfield days considering his role as Arne Slot’s assistant during the 2024/25 season.

He left last summer to take up the head coach position at Ajax - and he took Vitezslav Jaros and James McConnell with him on loan.

That venture didn’t last long - with Heitinga dismissed after only 15 matches. But the Dutchman has found employment quickly - setting up under Frank’s leadership at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Slot may well have been ok with Heitinga taking his secrets overseas where he wouldn’t be a threat in the Premier League.

But now it seems as though he’s agitating to sign two Reds and take advantage of their precarious contract situations.
