Liverpool told how they can land deal for England forward
One of Liverpool’s transfer priorities next summer will be to find a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King has a contract which expires in 2027 - but the process of identifying a successor is no doubt already underway.
Sporting director Richard Hughes does not want to get into a situation where he is trying to sign a Salah replacement AFTER he’s left the club.
It’s more prudent to find a high-quality successor when Salah is still at the club - so the 33-year-old can share duties and help any new star settle in.
We’ve seen names such as Michael Olise and Antoine Semenyo linked in recent weeks. But there remains the possibility that the Reds could move for an old familiar target - if certain conditions are met.
Liverpool tipped for Jarrod Bowen move
Jarrod Bowen, 28, has been a superstar for West Ham since joining from Hull back in 2019. The England man has stuck with the Hammers through some indifferent spells - and the London side are again in relegation danger this season.
He’s got three goals and one assist so far this term for the crisis-hit capital club and remains under contract at the London Stadium until 2030.
A new report in Football Insider claims that it is likely that Bowen remains loyal to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side through the January transfer window.
However it also adds that his loyalty will be severely tested in the even that West Ham are relegated.
West Ham relegation could see Bowen go
We could therefore see the Reds swoop in to complete an opportunistic deal for a relegated player - like they have done before in the case of Gini Wijnaldum, Andy Robertson and Xherdan Shaqiri.
“I don’t think he’ll be sold in the near future,” reads the report. “There’s definitely no chance he’ll move in January because they will need Jarrod Bowen to try and help them stay up in the Premier League.
“He is the club captain, he is the talisman, he’s been top scorer for the last four years. So, he’s definitely not for sale in January.
“Things might change in some way, you just don’t know. If West Ham were to suffer relegation, then there might be a chance that Jarrod Bowen could move on.
“But every time there’s speculation about Bowen, it seems that he is content with life at West Ham.”
Bowen, West Ham’s captain, has now racked up 250 games for the club as well as 19 England caps. A Premier League-proven talent - potentially available for a knockdown fee - could be just what Liverpool need to move on from Salah.
