Rival coach 'in love' with Curtis Jones; bid coming for England midfielder
Liverpool will soon have a crucial decision to make over Curtis Jones.
The 25-year-old is only under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season - and right now there is no new deal on the horizon.
The Premier League champions fielded interest from both Inter and Tottenham for the England midfielder in January - but he remained on Merseyside.
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes were unwilling to weaken the squad midway through the season - but that doesn’t mean that Jones’ future won’t come under scrutiny in summer.
With only a year left on his deal - and no breakthrough in talks - a parting of the ways looks inevitable.
Inter come back for Curtis Jones
Given his age, quality and experience there is little chance of Hughes allowing the homegrown playmaker to run down his deal and leave for nothing. Therefore summer 2026 represents the Anfield club’s last chance to sell Jones for a decent fee.
And it looks like Inter will come back into the equation - according to a report in Corriere dello Sport.
Having been eliminated from the Champions League Inter now have a clearer indication of the kind of budget they’ll have to work with in the upcoming transfer market.
Plans are been drawn up in San Siro for another transfer assault for Jones with the Italian giants having missed out on his signing in winter.
Inter coach is 'in love' with Curtis Jones
Cristian Chivu - the club’s head coach - is reported to have fallen in love with Jones during Inter’s Champions League defeat by the Reds earlier this season.
And with midfielder Davide Frattesi being lined up for an end-of-season exit it looks likely that the Englishman could replace him.
Corriere claims that right now Jones appears “unwilling” to renew his contract with Liverpool - suggesting that Richard Hughes has not yet caved in to the player’s demands.
Inter therefore have been tipped to “strengthen” their relationship with Jones’ entourage ahead of making an offer to Liverpool come summer.
Jones has fallen out of favour in recent weeks - failing to impress on a rare start against Nottingham Forest - and has generally been a peripheral figure during 2026.
An exit route appears to be now opening up - with Serie A destined to be the midfielder’s next destination.
