Fabrizio Romano drops MASSIVE hint that Newcastle will sell Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak has been touted as a potential Liverpool striker target for a long time. Several outlets have reported on the Reds’ mooted interest - conveying the sense that the Sweden international is an ideal target.
And according to a previous report, the feeling is mutual. Last season the 25-year-old scored 23 goals for Newcastle as the North East side qualified for the Champions League.

Despite being under contract at St. James’ Park until 2028, there have been plenty of stories linking Isak with a move away.

Indeed it’s been suggested that the frontman could have his head turned by an enticing salary package from Liverpool - or indeed another interested party.
Liverpool could enter race for Alexander Isak
Isak is on around £120k per week according to reports and Newcastle would have to smash their wage structure in order to commit him to a new deal.
Should they be unable to convince him to sign then they run the risk of his value plummeting in the market. And that is why the club would reportedly consider a sale this summer for a fee of around £120m.
Liverpool have already broken the British transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz this summer and they would require significant outgoing business in order to furnish a deal for Isak.
But it appears that Newcastle are dropping hints that Isak COULD be leaving this summer as they eye up a move for Hugo Ekitike.
Newcastle chasing Ekitike
The Frenchman is also of interest to Liverpool - but with the Geordies joining the hunt it could be an admission that their first-choice No9 - Isak - is going to be leaving.
“Hugo Ekitike keeps attracting interest from Premier League with Newcastle keen on the striker,” Fabrizio Romano wrote on X.
“More Premier League clubs remain also informed on situation, after Liverpool and Chelsea calls in June. Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah called in recent weeks but his priority is Europe.”
Ekitike or Isak for Liverpool
Depending on what happens with Darwin Nunez, Liverpool could end up making an offer for Isak. That in turn would allow the Magpies to fund a bid for Ekitike.
And if that doesn’t happen then sporting director Richard Hughes has the option of activating a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for Ekitike.
Either way, it’s likely that Newcastle’s transfer business in the striker department will have a big impact on what Liverpool do next.

With Victor Osimhen now seemingly off the menu as a move to Galatasaray looms closer, the Reds’ striker chase could now centre on two names - Isak or Ekitike.
