Marc Guehi is COMING: Liverpool will agree deal to sign England star
Liverpool have all of a sudden got something of a crisis at centre-back. Having sold Jarell Quansah, the Reds were left with only Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni as senior options in the heart of their defence.
And things took a bad turn last week when Leoni, 18, suffered a devastating ACL injury - ruling him out for up to a year.

The £26m signing from Parma was injured during a promising debut against Southampton in the EFL Cup - giving Arne Slot a big problem in the position.

Liverpool’s deadline day move for Marc Guehi fell apart at the last minute - and their failure to land the England man looks more regrettable now that Leoni has been injured.
Liverpool to move for Guehi
Crystal Palace pulled out of the deal at the 11th hour - with sporting director Richard Hughes earlier having agreed to pay an initial £35m for the 25-year-old.
Like Ibrahima Konate, Guehi is out of contract in 2026 - leading to speculation that he will still earn his move to the Premier League champions albeit on a free transfer.
Palace braced for Liverpool bid
But Liverpool’s concerns at centre-back are even more pressing now - with Konate and Gomez suffering plenty of injury trouble between them over the past few seasons.
Arne Slot is just one injury or a suspension away from a central defensive shortage - a big risk for a team fighting on so many fronts.
They will have a chance to address the situation in the winter transfer window however - with TBR Football now reckoning that the club WILL move for Guehi in January.
Guehi exit not ruled out
“Palace believe that Liverpool are going to make a January move for Guehi,” a report reads.
“They said no on deadline day, but they will say no again – I don’t think it can be ruled out that they let him leave.”
If Guehi cannot be bought then the Merseysiders could look into deals for Jan Paul van Hecke of Brighton or Youri Baas from Ajax - two Dutch defenders linked to Liverpool in recent weeks.
