Liverpool tipped to MOVE for 77-goal England forward

One of Liverpool’s transfer priorities next summer will be sourcing a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King is 33 now and is set for a gruelling season at club and international level. He will feature in TWO international tournaments for Egypt - and faces a heavy workload on the domestic and European fronts too.

Although Salah scored a goal against Aston Villa in the weekend Premier League victory, there have been signs of decline in the forward’s game throughout 2025.

Under contract until 2027, Salah may well be made available by sporting director Richard Hughes next summer. Saudi Arabia’s biggest clubs will be interested - and a deal worth £150m per year to Salah has reportedly been put on the table.

Jarrod Bowen a contender to replace Salah?

And if Salah does leave then the Premier League champions could move for Antoine Semenyo, Michael Olise or another performer in the position.

One name which has cropped up all over again is that of Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham captain has been on the radar for the Reds on and off over the last few years.

But with a contract securing him to East London until 2030, a transfer might have been thought to be off the table. Bowen is 28 now and would no doubt come with a heavy transfer outlay as well as wages.

However he provides goals and assists on a regular basis - even in a side that struggles.

West Ham will struggle to hang on to Bowen

This season the 19-time England international has scored three in 10 Premier League games and his overall record for the Hammers stands at 77 in 249 games.

The former Hull City standout has also got an enviable assist record and although he wouldn’t be a 10-year signing he would be a very clever pick-up for the Reds so long as the finances were right.

A new report in Football Insider now claims West Ham will find it very hard to keep hold of Bowen beyond the end of the 2026 summer transfer window.

Liverpool interested in Bowen

Although Tottenham might well be the main names in the frame at this stage - the mention of Liverpool is intriguing.

“Tottenham love Bowen, but they are not alone and whilst I don’t see him going in the New Year, come the summer – it’s going to be hard to see West Ham keeping hold of him,” the report reads.

“Long-term it is a different story, but Spurs are not the only admirers in that regard.

“Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle all have an historic interest, whilst TBR Football understands Atletico Madrid have also looked closely at him as a shock move to Spain is lined up.”

Bowen has been at West Ham since 2020 - establishing him as a Premier League star throughout his time in the capital. There is little possibility of the Irons letting their captain go in January - but come summer it could well be a different story.
