Liverpool make late request to sign Real Madrid forward on loan

Liverpool’s late window push to improve their attack continues apace.

Bradley Barcola has finally been brought in - at a cost of £120m from Paris Saint-Germain. But more signings will follow.

Richard Hughes - the Anfield side’s sporting director - is thought to be chasing deals for at least two more forwards. Ismaila Sarr - the 28-year-old Crystal Palace winger - is now in the 2024/25 Premier League champions’ crosshairs.

And a deal for PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye could also be revived before Tuesday when the window slams shut.

Endrick back in focus for Liverpool

Barcola satisfies the requirement of increased depth and quality in wide areas. The only issue for the Merseysiders is the 23-year-old prefers the left wing.

That leaves Andoni Iraola without a first-choice right winger and a lack of cover for Alexander Isak up front is also an issue. One player who could solve BOTH problems is Endrick of Real Madrid - with his future at Real Madrid under scrutiny.

Following the signings of Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande the 20-year-old Brazil international faces becoming surplus to requirements.

Endrick is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid

A report earlier this week claimed Endrick - described as a phenomenon by Gabriel Jesus - would be open to leaving the Bernabeu on a short-term basis or else with a buyback clause inserted.

Now it’s being reported in the Spanish press that Liverpool have asked for Endrick on loan from the 15-time European champions. Endrick is seen as short-term cover for Hugo Ekitike - who is out of commission until Christmas or the New Year.

Right now Madrid boss Jose Mourinho and other decision-makers have failed to come to a conclusion over Endrick’s future.

Endrick can cover for Ekitike and play right wing

“In the center forward position, Liverpool requested the loan of Endrick from Real Madrid to provide cover for Alexander Isak,” the report reads.

“At the moment, Real Madrid's board has not shown any willingness to authorize the loan of the 20-year-old Brazilian international.

“The British club's management continues to keep the player on its shortlist while it explores the financial viability of the deal.”

This is perhaps one to keep an eye on. Much like the loan deal for Ronald Araujo - which serves a short-term purpose - Endrick can fill a gap in the team until Ekitike is back fit and a permanent solution at right wing is sorted.
