Liverpool offer £30m forward in extraordinary swap deal to sign England star
Liverpool have spent close to £200m in this summer’s transfer market. Having largely sat out the last few windows, sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot are now splashing the cash.
There has been a British record deal for Florian Wirtz - £100m and potentially rising to £116m - while Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili are the other landmark arrivals.

It promises to be a huge summer of change around Anfield with plenty of first-team stars now under scrutiny. As Hughes and Slot set about reorganising the team, it looks inevitable that some of the stars of the 2024/25 Premier League title win will be leaving.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher have already gone - with the likes of Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez expected to join them.
Liverpool looking to offload Ben Doak
We could also see some fringe and youth team players go in order to help fund the next phase of Liverpool’s transfer plans later in the summer.
Tyler Morton for example has been touted as a potential departure. He has played 14 first-team games for the Reds and could earn the club £10m in the transfer market.
In a similar boat is Ben Doak. The 19-year-old Scot has only played 10 games for the seniors - and none for Arne Slot - but enjoyed a significant spell out on loan at Middlesbrough last season.
Liverpool want Marc Guehi
He could be offloaded this summer - with the Reds thought to be looking for £30m. And Liverpool are ready to use Crystal Palace’s interest in the Scotland international to their advantage.
It’s no secret at this stage that Liverpool want to sign Marc Guehi. But with funds at a premium following that near £200m splurge, it’s been reported in the Guardian that Liverpool plan to use Doak to land England international centre-back Guehi in a swap deal.
Swap Doak for Guehi?
Palace tried to sign Doak in the January transfer window but Liverpool opted against doing a deal as the London club did not meet his asking price.
Guehi, 24, only has one year left on his contract and Palace are reported to be willing to sell for £40m. That would leave Liverpool with just £10m to make up as a makeweight.

Swapping a 19-year-old winger who is relatively untested in the top flight for a proven, international-class centre-back would be a stunning move - and one which represents rare value in the market.
