Liverpool have got plans to add Alexander Isak to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

Despite the £260m outlay on Florian Wirtz and others, the Reds are not backing down from their intentions of signing their No1 striking target.

Several other forwards have been linked - including Benjamin Sesko and Jonathan David - but Isak has always been the dream target.

The Sweden international is also now very keen on the move - if his latest behaviour is anything to go by.

Isak starts the process for joining Liverpool

Liverpool’s interest could be no secret at this stage - and Isak knows it.

He first informed Newcastle that he had no intention of signing a new contract - with his current terms running until 2028. And he then stunned Eddie Howe by suggesting that he was ready to explore a move away from St. James’ Park this summer.

He was left out of a preseason friendly at Celtic and then declined to go on tour to Asia - citing a minor thigh injury.

Since then Isak has been reported missing by the Geordies - with reports from various sources confirming he was training at the facilities of his former club Real Sociedad.

And now it’s been claimed by a reporter in Spain that Isak has now told teammates about his intentions to move to Liverpool.

“The player has already informed the club and the dressing room of his desire to leave,” writes AS journalist Edu Burgos on X.

The next step will be Liverpool and Newcastle coming to an arrangement over the transfer fee.

The bidding started at £120m - but Newcastle are looking for a deal worth £150m.

Either way, this latest update can be taken as a breakthrough. Isak has walked away from Newcastle and told his teammates he wants to join Liverpool. It can be only a matter of time before Liverpool sign their new No9.
