Liverpool simply have to sign the next Yan Diomande, he's incredible
There's another Yan Diomande on the block, and he's incredible.
Liverpool are approaching a crucial summer as they look to reshape their options in the wide areas.
The departure of Mohamed Salah at the end of the season will be a major turning point in the history of the club. His output has defined Liverpool’s attack for years, providing goals, assists, and match-winning contributions with remarkable consistency.
Replacing that influence alone will be a significant challenge.
However, the situation is more complex than just simply replacing Salah, which is complex enough already.
We should not forget that Luis Díaz was sold last summer and was never properly replaced, leaving the squad short of natural width. That decision has had a lasting impact throughout the current campaign, with the Reds having to rely on a 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha to give them some sort of spark.
Without consistent threats on both flanks, Liverpool are never going to be able to be a dominant force.
Fixing this problem will require a decisive approach in the transfer market. One addition will not be enough. Liverpool need at least two high-quality wingers capable of adding pace, creativity, and unpredictability.
If the club wants to compete at the highest level, that will be the utmost priority.
Yan Diomande's come and get me plea, caught Liverpool fans' attention earlier this year and he's the Reds' no.1 target for the winger position, having even been name dropped by the ultra reliable Paul Joyce recently.
It's easy to see why. He is on the club's radar. Scouts have watched him extensively. Richard Hughes knows him from his time at Bournemouth, where Diomande went on trial before joining Leganes, and Liverpool need exactly the type of player he is.
Diomande burst onto the scene all of a sudden and out of nowhere.
One of the big factors in his quick breakthrough is because of how exciting he is.
Not only does he have end-product, he loves to take players on and fans enjoy watching players like him more than anyone.
Liverpool have lacked this star quality and Diomande should absolutely be the club's number one target.
But like we mentioned above, Liverpool need two - not just one winger this summer.
And the next signing the club should make should be to sign the next Diomande.
This time last year while Diomande was at Leganes, there were not many people talking about him.
Right now, only a small circle of niche football enthusiasts are aware of who the next Diomande will be - his name is Zadok Yohanna.
Wearing the same number as Isak, the no.36, AIK is developing the next big thing in Zadok Yohanna.
A Nigerian 18-year-old right-winger who has 12 goal contributions in his last 12 games for AIK in 2026, including friendlies.
In competitive games, he has seven goal contributions in seven games, playing just 472 minutes in total. So, he's averaging a goal or assist every 67 minutes.
Yohanna isn't just special because of his output though. The sample size is small so right now we aren't just looking at the output but his performances, and it is these performances and his playing style that makes him special.
At such a young age, he already comes across as a very complete player.
Yohanna is a master dribbler, who has attempted 31 dribbles and completed 19 of them in his last three games. He possesses excellent ball manipulation skills, and his technical prowess is superb.
He's an incredible player, who is going to be the next big thing. RB Leipzig are looking at him as their Diomande replacement.
But Liverpool should be clever and they should sign both. It would set Arne Slot's side up for decades to come.
