Trent Alexander-Arnold has had ENOUGH of Real Madrid
These are tough days for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool legend opted to run down his contract in 2025 - joining Real Madrid for £10m just before it was due to expire. It was seen as a dream move for the right-back - whose Anfield spell closed with a second Premier League title.
The 27-year-old had plans to become a Real Madrid linchpin under ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. The reality however has not been borne out.
Trent has experienced several injury problems since moving to the Spanish capital while Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde have come into the side at right-back.
He is currently sidelined due to injury and on the occasions he has managed to break into the team he hasn’t always impressed.
Trent's Real Madrid disillusionment
Madrid’s media pack have been sceptical about this signing from day one and with Alonso now out of the picture there is more doubt than ever over SEVERAL Madrid stars - not only Alexander-Arnold.
A report in Fichajes now claims that Trent has already become disillusioned with his place in the Madrid project and is considering leaving the club.
He has been unable to carve out a key role in the team as expected and his defending was causing Alonso sleepless nights according to previous reports.
Alexander-Arnold unwilling to stay
Now the England international is claimed to believe that there are certain broken promises at the Bernabeu and he is “unwilling” to stay at the club.
“The full-back believes the club has not fulfilled the promises made during negotiations for his transfer, especially regarding his role within the team and the prominent position he was expected to play in the sporting project,” the report reads.
“There's a clear sense of disappointment among the player's entourage. Trent had hoped to be a role model both on and off the field, but the reality has been quite different.
“This disconnect with the project has grown over the weeks, culminating in a discontent that is no longer being concealed.
“He's also unwilling to prolong a period in which he doesn't feel valued.”
Trent linked with Real Madrid exit
Trent was a vital part of the Liverpool team for the best part of a decade - winning titles under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot. Liverpool are no doubt weaker for his absence with neither Jeremie Frimpong nor Conor Bradley capable of matching his output.
He has been linked with a return to the Premier League - with Manchester City or Newcastle - and the countdown now appears on for his Real Madrid career.
