Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes currently has plenty of contract renewals in his in-tray.

Not only does the exec need to tie up a new deal for Ibrahima Konate as soon as possible but there are also emerging situations with Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones.

Getting renewals over the line for those first-team stars should be considered a priority. But the Premier League champions are also making plans to safeguard for the future by including younger players in the next wave of renewals.

And one in particular who could certainly come into that category is promising attacker Kieran Morrison.

Liverpool make Kieran Morrison contract offer

The 19-year-old has been in imperious form for the youth and underage sides in recent weeks - netting FIVE times in his last three Premier League 2 outings.

The left-footer was also on target as Rob Page’s U19s went out of the UEFA Youth League to Zilina this week. It is clear that Liverpool higher-ups have got big things in mind for Morrison - who has made the step up to first-team duties this season.

He has played for Arne Slot’s side in the EFL Cup and has also made it to the bench for fixtures in the Champions League and Premier League as well.

The Northern Ireland U21 international has been training with Slot’s senior squad regularly - and it’s now been claimed by This is Anfield that a new contract offer is close.

Morrison was associated with an exit on loan during the transfer window - with clubs in the second tier and Germany showing interest - but the decision has been taken that he will remain on Merseyside for the rest of the campaign.

Morrison could come into the first-team picture

“Liverpool have offered 19-year-old first-team hopeful Kieran Morrison a new long-term contract, with player and club rejecting loan opportunities in January,” the report reads.

“Morrison attracted loan interest from a number of clubs from the Championship as well as Germany, including Schalke, before Monday’s deadline.”

Morrison could come into the picture as a Mo Salah alternative during the second half of the season - given his preference to play from the right.

Liverpool turned down offers for the former Manchester United youth last summer - according to the report - and now he looks to be on the verge of a major breakthrough.

“Wolves, Burnley and Sunderland were among the clubs to consider a deal last summer but no move was forthcoming and the youngster is now benefiting from his patience,” the report reads.

Morrison’s current deal expires in a little over 16 months and getting him secured for the long term could be a big fillip for Hughes.
