Fabrizio Romano sounds double Liverpool contract ALERT

Liverpool have got some contract issues to solve - and fast.

The Reds are already counting down the days until Ibrahima Konate’s deal expires. He is out of contract in summer 2026 - and if no agreement is reached over a new deal then he will be leaving for nothing.

But he is NOT the only starter that Liverpool need to tie down.

Gravenberch and Szoboszlai expiring in 2028

Recent reports suggest that Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch are both in line for new deals. Signed in 2023, both midfielders inked deals until 2028.

Szoboszlai is reported to be on £120k per week - with Gravenberch earning around £150k. Both have been in incredible form over the past couple of seasons - forming the backbone of the team which won the Premier League title under Arne Slot last season.

And Gravenberch, 23, was sorely missed during the defeats to both Brentford and Crystal Palace in recent weeks. Happily the €40m signing from Bayern Munich was back in the lineup for the weekend win against Aston Villa.

And in the game he demonstrated once again his worth to the team - serving a contract reminder to sporting director Richard Hughes.

Gravenberch stars versus Aston Villa

Not only did Gravenberch get on the scoresheet but he was impeccable elsewhere - having 67 touches, completing 46 of his 52 passes and starring without the ball too.

And in the case of Szoboszlai we have come to expect consistency and tireless running. There can be no more important player to the Liverpool cause at present than the 25-year-old Hungary captain.

Moving these contract renewals up the queue is now imperative. By the end of this season they will each only have two seasons left to run.

They are both at peak ages and teams in England and beyond will be looking on with interest. It's understandable that there's concern over Alexis Mac Allister's deal expiring in 2028 too - but right now these two need to be tied down as priority.

Liverpool want to extend Gravenberch and Szoboszlai

No doubt Gravenberch and Szoboszlai will be looking for a steep pay rise to go along with any extended deals. But they have shown in the last season and a bit that they are indeed worth it.

These are two players the club need to be building around for the long term. And it’s a point made by Fabrizio Romano in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

“Liverpool want both to sign longer contracts, talks will start soon,” he wrote.

“It's not something advanced or done at this stage, it's an internal plan.”

The longer it goes on, perhaps the more unsettled the fanbase might become. Let’s hope Hughes and Slot see fit to get these renewals up and running as soon as possible.
