Jurgen Klopp eyeing EFL Cup success with Arsenal looming

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that he and the Reds are gunning for the EFL Cup this season and are determined to try and get the trophy in the cabinet for the first time since 2012.

Liverpool have a great relationship with this tournament but haven't won it for a while and so it would be nice to get it back this season.

Of course, that is easier said than done with Arsenal in the way and then Chelsea in the final, if the Reds manage to get through the two-legged semi-final with the Gunners in the first place.

It all kicks off tonight, then, a week later than originally planned thanks to covid-related issues and Klopp has eyes on success in the competition:

Anfield Watch Verdict

It might not be the Champions League or the Premier League but it is a chance to add another major trophy to the Reds' count and that alone is incentive enough.

Some players haven't won a trophy with Liverpool like Thiago Alcantara whilst others want to make up for a barren spell last year.

Hopefully, the players that are picked can step up to the plate tonight and set us a step nearer to the final at Wembley.
