Liverpool could welcome one star back to the team today. That's been confirmed.

Arne Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker could return to the Liverpool lineup today against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian has been out since the middle of March with an injury.

Liverpool were dealt another blow at the weekend as Giorgi Mamardashvili, the clear replacement, went down injured against Everton. He's now out for weeks - potentially the rest of the season.

Freddie Woodman is the likely player to step in for now. Slot, however, made it clear that Alisson could be back later today. Though, it doesn't sound like anyone should get their hopes up.

"No Giorgi [Mamardashvili] will definitely not be available tomorrow and not for the upcoming weeks," Slot told a press conference on Friday. "Ali [Alisson] is close to returning to play. Let's see if tomorrow comes too early.

"That leaves Freddie [Woodman] as an option who is definitely fit."

Joe Gomez is also back fit, while Wataru Endo might play again this season as he continues his recovery. A few positive injury updates, then.

Alisson Becker: Situation Summary

Season Stats and Injury Update

As of 24 April 2026, Alisson Becker has made 25 Premier League appearances this season, recording eight clean sheets and an 81% pass completion rate. He has also kept four clean sheets in six Champions League matches. However, the 33-year-old has missed the last six games due to a hamstring injury. In today's pre-match press conference, Arne Slot confirmed Alisson is nearing a return, though tomorrow's match against Crystal Palace may come too early. With backup Giorgi Mamardashvili ruled out for several weeks due to a knee wound, Freddie Woodman is poised to start if Alisson isn't ready.

Contract and Juventus Agreement

Despite Liverpool recently triggering a 12-month extension to keep him until June 2027, reports on 22 April indicate Alisson has reached a verbal agreement to join Juventus this summer. He is reportedly open to a Serie A return, though talks with the club are expected soon to assess his future. Liverpool are reportedly seeking between €10m and €15m for the Brazilian, having been "irritated" by suggestions of a free transfer.

International Standing

Alisson remains Brazil’s undisputed number one under Carlo Ancelotti. Despite his recent injury lay-off, he has confirmed he will be in "full playing condition" to lead the Seleção at the 2026 World Cup this June.
