Arne Slot has a wildcard that could win Liverpool the Champions League
Arne Slot's hopes of keeping his job as Liverpool manager solely rest on the Reds' Champions League progression.
At the moment, many fans believe that the Anfield outfit have what it takes to add the trophy to their cabinet.
However, unless they can keep their leads and ensure that their defence doesn't crumble under the first bit of pressure they face, winning the Champions League is out of the question.
But, even though things haven't often gone Liverpool's way this term, the Dutchman seems to have a trick up his sleeve that could help them win it after all.
Alexander Isak is set to make his Liverpool return at the end of March
During Slot's pre-Nottingham Forest press conference on Thursday, the Liverpool head coach confirmed that he expects Alexander Isak to be back in contention by the end of March or at the very latest, the start of April.
The Sweden international is Liverpool's record signing and, due to various different reasons such as fitness and injuries, Liverpool's fanbase haven't seen the best of their star man just yet.
However, since he's now due to be back before the 2025-26 season ends, he could have a massive part to play in the Reds' Champions League charge.
The Champions League is one of the last major competitions that Slot can win for Liverpool this term and, with the added boost of Isak returning, it could help spur the Anfield outfit on to win the entire thing.
Alexander Isak's return would help freshen up Arne Slot's attack
Liverpool's attack was the main area of focus for Liverpool's recruitment efforts in the summer.
Although Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez were also brought in, it was clear that Hughes and Slot wanted to vastly improve the Reds' attacking ranks.
Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have been carrying the Reds on their back for the last couple of weeks and, once Isak is back, it will allow Ekitike to move onto the left-wing and get Cody Gakpo out of the Reds' starting XI.
Although the Dutchman is Liverpool's only senior left-winger at the moment, his performances have been well below par which has come as quite a shock to most Liverpool fans.
However, if Isak is chosen to start as Slot's number nine, Ekitike can be moved to the left and ensure that Liverpool have their best-possible players on the pitch.
Not only would this allow the Anfield outfit to have a better chance of winning the Champions League but it would also allow fans to see all their new signings in action.
