Wonderkid confirms he's ready to play for Liverpool
An exciting wonderkid has confirmed he's ready to play for Liverpool at last.
Being the head coach of the Reds is not an easy job. Especially for Arne Slot right now as he has the difficult task of putting together an entirely new team, with entirely new stars.
On top of that, Slot also has to keep everyone happy and give everyone equal opportunities.
This is a very difficult task when you have so many good players as Liverpool do. Especially when there's also an expectation as a Liverpool head-coach to promote young players as well.
Finding the balance has become a little bit trickier for Slot in comparison to Jurgen Klopp.
Slot demands even higher expectations from his young players. In order to be playing regularly you really have to prove that you're good enough.
At Liverpool right now, that is not an easy task. Particularly, because you have to prove that you are good enough to play for the current Premier League champions.
In order to do that you have to be a generational talent. And there is only one player of that calibre at Liverpool right now.
His name is Rio Ngumoha. He showed it in pre-season with five goal contributions in five games and he showed it in very sparse flashes so far in the regular campaign as well.
Now he's showing it for England on international duty. For the U19 national team, Ngumoha registered a brilliant assist against Lithuania, and then he followed that up with an even spectacular goal vs Latvia, curling it into the top corner of the net from outside the box.
The finish was simply sublime and it's the kind of move only a truly elite player can pull off.
It's yet another moment from Ngumoha that confirms just how good he is and why he deserves more playing time for Liverpool's first team.
He may only be 17-years-old but he's ready to play more often. He's ready to make an impact. In the right games and in the right environments he will flourish.
There have been times when he hasn't been particularly great. But in those times, neither were any of Liverpool's other attackers.
The cameo against Brentford was harsh because he was up against one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and on top of that it's not like Cody Gakpo did any better than him on the night.
Against Crystal Palace in the League Cup, few players shone. Liverpool were up against it and naturally he was never going to be able to stand-out.
But put him in an environment where Liverpool are controlling the game and everyone is playing well and he will shine.
With his performances on international duty he's confirmed he deserves to be playing games. It's now about to Slot to give him that honour.
