'There might be FOUR Hungarians at Liverpool' 17-goal forward tipped to join Reds
Hungarians are taking over Liverpool at the moment and there could have been another who might have joined the club.
From Dominik Szoboszlai to Milos Kerkez and Armin Pecsi there are now three Hungarians at the club after the latter two joined the Reds this summer.
In terms of the squad at the moment, apart from the English players only the Dutch (four) have more representatives in the squad.
There have been Hungarians at Liverpool in the past. Famously Istvan Kozma and Adam Bogdan both played for the Reds. At academy level, the likes of Krisztian Nemeth and Krisztian Adorjan were highly touted at the club's academy.
But right now the difference is that Liverpool's Hungarians are actually impacting the game. Szoboszlai has been one of the best players for the Reds all season.
Kerkez is a regular starter and Pecsi is also regularly involved with the first-team, particularly in training but also with the travelling squad.
Given the Reds' recent success there has also been an added focus on Liverpool in Hungarian media.
This has led to the media speculating on who could be the next player to join the club. And an interesting proposition was media on the Hungarian television channel M4 Sport.
As per Ulloi Ut 129, the channel speculated that as well as Szoboszlai, Pecsi and Kerkez, Hungarian international forward Barnabas Varga is also good enough to join Liverpool.
The 31-year-old made 17 goal contributions already this season, which is the same as Kylian Mbappe.
He plays for Ferencvaros and has also become Hungary's first choice no.9 scoring important goals in World Cup qualifying for his national team.
"When someone heads at this level, you can't catch him. He can score from any situation, even from a bad pass. His presence alone is a huge weapon. He has amazing indicators at the European level, and not only in terms of scoring goals, but also in the way he prepares the balls for his teammates," said M4 Sport pundit Peter Simek.
In his comments he named dropped Liverpool as a destination Varga could reach if he were younger.
"If this happened to him at a younger age, there might be four Hungarians in Liverpool now, because everyone loves a striker who can score goals. Moreover, at all levels, not only in the championship, but also in the national team and at the international level."
Unfortunately we can't see this happening. Liverpool don't sign 31-years-olds very often. But more Hungarians at the club is definitely a possibility. The nation is producing a lot of talented young players right now.
