Talks progressing well; Liverpool ready for green light on record-breaking deal

Liverpool are ready and waiting for the green light on a record-breaking deal. Talks elsewhere are progressing well - and set to have a big impact.

It's no secret whatsoever that Liverpool hope to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain. The problem is that it's not an easy negotiation.

PSG, quite incredibly, value Barcola at €180m. That's potentially the second-biggest fee in history and looks pretty ridiculous given he's not actually in their best XI.

That's part of the reason Barcola is ready to leave PSG. Liverpool hope to give him a key role, though we can't imagine they pay that full amount. Surely.

One reason that fee might come down is that PSG are in talks for other forwards. They're heavily linked with Mika Godts from Ajax, while Ferran Torres is also on their radar.

Bringing in one of those two, let alone both, would make holding onto Barcola far less of a priority. In fact, they'd be inclined to sell, given the squad bloat.

TeamTalk reports that the Ferran deal might move forward quite quickly, too. They say that talks between player and club are progressing very well, heading in the right direction, and things look positive.

That would be a massive boost for Liverpool, who know full well that Ferran moving to PSG pushes Barcola's exit right to the brink. This is a win for that deal, then, assuming the European champions don't fail from here.

Of course, they have already lost a player from a strong position this summer. Liverpool are only in for Barcola because Yan Diomande rejected them for a move to PSG - only for him to subsequently reject PSG for a move to Real Madrid.

The Ferran Torres deal, however, looks far stronger and one that PSG are clear favourites for.
