Sensational Real Madrid swap deal is now ON after latest update
Liverpool could complete a sensational swap deal with Real Madrid after a new update has emerged.
Over the last few years the Spanish giants have become a real thorn in the Reds' side. Real Madrid have beaten Liverpool in two Champions League finals and also took Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free contract.
It's not the first time this has happened. Steve McManaman was also lured to the Spanish capital as was Michael Owen, Xabi Alonso and Arvalo Arbeloa.
Time and time again Real Madrid have come for Liverpool's best players.
And they are sniffing about for their services again.
Ibrahima Konate is on their radar, as is Dominik Szoboszlai. The former could end-up following in suit of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The latter will be unlikely to leave the club.
But there is another who Liverpool might be open to selling and it could throw up the possibility of a swap deal between the two sides.
A recent update in The Athletic has claimed that Alexis Mac Allister was well-liked by Real Madrid during Carlo Ancelotti's reign and that he could become an option for the Spanish side again as signing a midfielder will be a priority for them in the summer.
Liverpool may be open to selling their Argentine midfielder. Mac Allister has been a brilliant player but it feels like he suits the intensity of the Premier League and Arne Slot's system the least of the current midfield options.
So, letting him go for an alternative would make sense. The only question then becomes on what terms would Liverpool be willing to let him go? And are those terms something Real Madrid would be prepared to pay?
Or there's an alternative solution. There's a world in which the two sides could very well complete a sensational swap deal involving one of Real Madrid's own stars.
We revealed exclusively on Anfield Watch that there is a six-man midfield shortlist for Liverpool this summer and this includes Eduardo Camavinga, who Michael Edwards is a huge fan of.
Camavinga would be more suited to the intensity of the Premier League and on top of that he is a valuable addition because he can play as a left-back as well.
Given Andy Robertson could possibly leave the club upon the expiry of his contract, Liverpool may need a back-up in that department and in Camavinga they could get that and more.
There's no denying the club want to reinforce their midfield department and they expect one of Curtis Jones or Mac Allister to leave.
If Real Madrid are open to buying Mac Allister then it makes sense for them to be open to this swap deal as well, since Camavinga is always on the periphery of the team, and doesn't really get played in his preferred midfield role.
There's a world in which this deal works for both sides. And for once, Liverpool fans may not be irked by a deal involving them and Real Madrid.
